yes, it's legit, but it's not magic. it's just a way of restricting calories. i think most of the benefits from actually fasting require longer fasts.

It works for some. Not for others. There’s very little actual evidence on any “magic” it can do for anti-aging, autophagy, etc.

It does NOT work for me. If I were writing an anecdotal evidence study about IF, I’d preach that it’s a poor way of losing weight because feeling ravenous will lead to binge eating.

But many others have found that it suppresses appetite and helps with limiting calories via a strict eating window.

Worked for me during the Covid lockdown bs. Lost 28lbs in 3 months all while working out and running along with a daily walk 6 days a week.

I would eat from 7am until 3pm. Never counted calories or eliminated food groups. I did try to eat whole foods and avoid processed foods.

Truth be told I went from no food restrictions and mindfulness along with being sedentary to eating right, working out, walking and running. I was generally a lot more active. So I don't think it was magic at all. What I do believe is it was worked best for ME. I felt full during the day. I was hungry at night at first, but it became easy.

What I've come to realize is I probably should have broken my fast a little different. Lot's of times it was with oatmeal or protein pancakes. I should have just had straight protein first and gave it about an hour before eating anything else. It definitely worked for ME.

The added benefit it gave me was the ability to deal with hunger or periods of not eating. Before I wouldn't let myself miss a meal or ever be hungry. Hell, I just talked myself into doing it again.

I am doing it again after doing it for over a year. It works for me really well. I would recommend people at least try it once.

I couldn’t do it due to my acid reflux. If my stomach is empty for long periods of time, it causes it to flare up for me.

My window is 12pm-7pm and usually only eat 2 meals during this with no snacks. I workout a couple of days a week and stay below 160. I’ve been 150-158 for the last couple years doing this. Im comfortable staying where I’m at.

I use it as a tool when trying to drop fat, sometimes until 7pm sometimes until lunch. I have done a few mid 40 h fasts but not in a few years also.

I also feel there’s additional benefits if you workout during or at the end of you fasting window.

Your body needs fuel and if fasted, that will come from stored fat.
