Well, I'm a little over a week through with a Ventral Hernia repair surgery and 1 week in to a 4 week 35lb weight restriction. I had quit all CrossFit and weightlifting activities 3 weeks prior to my surgery, and immediately took up eating Oreos and Gummi Bears. I've also seen an uptick in gaming (just built a PC). So I'm roughly 4-5 weeks out of from working out.
Anyone here have experience coming back from this type of procedure. The doctor just put me on the 4 week weight restriction. Told me I could slowly start getting back to working out after that. Didn't really get into the specifics of what was acceptable, but rather just kind of listen to your body.

Curious about this too. I have a Hernia that doesn't really bother me but may need repair at some point.

Don't do anything but walking until youronrh is up or you will be in worse shape than before.

I had a double lower abdominal hernia about 15 years ago that I kept putting off getting repaired. It finally got to the point I couldn't stand for very long without being in pain, so surgery was in order.

I had it done laproscopically (sp?) where there was minimal invasion to the lower abdomen area. They used 3 small incisions, one for the tools for the surgery, one for a camera to see what they were doing and one to use gas to push the abdominal wall out to have room for the procedure. At least that is how it was explained to me. I went home the same day and was on light duty restrictions for a couple weeks and released to get back to whatever I wanted to do. This was when I was in my 50's. I've had absolutely no issues since.

I was doing clapping pullups last night and my lower abdomen got really sore. I hope it's just a strain.
