The diet consists of two meals per day, one pound of steak along with 4 eggs. There is one "cheat" day per week to essentially get some carbs back in your body through fruits and vegetables that you haven't been eating through the week.

The diet was created by Vince Gironda, a trainer of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Clint Eastwood.

I'd never heard of this until today, and it sounds intriguing because I really don't think I could get tired of steak and eggs. What do you guys think?

I did it before and enjoyed. Never got tired of steak, eggs got a little old. The cool thing about this diet was that it lead me to reading about Vince Gironda and his theories and workout regiments. I discovered his 10-8-6-15 rep scheme and that’s the foundation for my weight lifting now. The dude was ahead of his time, he was one of the first people to come out and say sugar was what was killing people and not fats.

Steak and eggs diet lead me to the anabolic diet and that diet went from a diet to becoming my lifestyle.

I am doing it now. Great diet if you want to lose bodyfat. It is my go-to and pretty much the only way I don't go insane. I promote Avatar nutrition for most people because it's so flexible, but I don't need flexibility and it kills me. I need strict structure.

What I do

I fast until 6pm, finish eating by 10pm

Meal 1-8oz steak, 65g avocado(half an avocado)

I lift from 8-930 or so. Basic greyskull lp template using reverse pyramid training rep scheme.

Post workout- 60g protein from peptopro

Meal 2-8 oz steak, 3 eggs, 65g avocado

I don't measure anything. Simply buy the packs of steaks from Sam's and however many pounds it is, that's how many days I split the pack up. I usually do filets and simply cut the filet in half.

Even if you get tired of it though, can always sub in rotisserie chicken, lamb, seafood etc.

Like tonight I had some rotisserie chicken left, I will put it on a salad with the avocado and avocado oil.

Vince recommends having a salad either daily or at a minimum every 3rd day or so. No need to do the refeed except once every two weeks or so u til you get down below 12% bodyfat.

That doesn’t seem like a lot of food. Is it basically calorie restriction and Keto?

Yea basic caloric deficit. If you are worried about calories you can add a different cut of meat.

For me this puts me at 1500 calories. 172g of protein or so

You fast until 6pm every day?

Not really sure if I can make it that long to eat. I could maybe get away with fasting until 1 or 2, but I walk anywhere from 3-8 miles everyday at school, so waiting until 6 might be a little bit of a stretch meaning I get really hungry around mid-day

Yea I do, but I didn't start that away. I walk about as much as you(by choice though) and it doesn't bother me. I started by fasting only until 12 or so.

All seven days of the week? Have you been drinking any alcohol, any cheat days?

No on Saturday I usually make breakfast for the family. I eat bacon and eggs those mornings. Usually eat some steak and grilled veggies around 2 or so and then some other meat that night.

Alcohol is only Saturday night during football season. I drink whiskey over ice or a Manhattan or ole fashion made with Splenda. If we go out to dinner, maybe a glass of red wine. I am not a big drinker though.

As far as cheat days, Vince suggest every 3-6 days to have a meal with carbs in it. Not a cheat meal per se but lots of clean carbs. Think basic sushi roll with sauce. I don't do it that often out of personal preference. Haven't had one in two weeks now and won't this weekend either.
