65 years old - been dealing with enlarged prostate for several years. Decided to get the surgery to help relieve the frequent urination and weak stream.

They were several options, TURP, Urolift and some others. Aquablation is less invasive with quicker healing and it last 10 years. Some of the others last 5 years.

The procedure goes thru your penis into your prostate and pressure washes a donut hole thru your prostate. With an enlarged prostate your urethra is constricted and it makes peeing painful and often unproductive.

I have my 2 week post surgery follow up tomorrow. I am peeing much easier and forceful. I've been in the "don't do anything strenuous" phase since surgery and hope to get cleared to resume normal activity. No sex either for the last 2 weeks, really haven't felt like it. I'm anxious to go out beer drinking and see if I can make it home without it being a photo finish to make it home in time.

I just had TURP 3 weeks ago after not qualifying for Urolift. They do the same, but instead, they manually bore you out like rotor rooter with snips. Still some soreness and pissing blood and clots, but pissing much better already, so overall happy. Wish my guy did Aquablation.

I hated doing TURPs when I worked surgery. 1-2 hour procedure just burning away prostate with a laser. Smelled up the whole front hallway.

Follow up: Saw the surgeon today. Biopsy from procedure showed no cancer. Said I could resume normal stuff, ie sex.

Surgeon said it takes ~ 3 months for the bladder to start fully functioning again. I can get off Flomax (Tamsulosin) in 2 weeks - good because I'm not a fan of retrograde ejaculation

So they can biopsy at the same time as Aquablation/TURP?

Is it a side effect of Aquablation, it is with TURP?

I had aquablation on 5/17 and could never pee without a catheter. Tissue residue and blood clots kept clogging me up. Had a Turp on 8/13 to clean out tissue. Had a 120 prostate. Doctor said that my prostate size was the problem. I’m going on my own not optimal, but I’m going. Doctor said it will get better over time.
