I have been doin IF 11-7 eating window the past couple of weeks. No issues at all, i will break fast at 11, lift weights at 12, and im good to go. But i just started this week hitting cardio before work, 7am. For those that do this, how are you not so depleted after exercise in the early am with 3-4 hrs left of fast?

I usually IF from 12-7 and workout at 11

Sometimes, on the weekends, I will run 3-5 miles in the morning. It's tough for an hour or so not to eat but then once you replenish the water you feel better

You just have to get used to it

Today is easier for me. I just did cardio for 42 minutes from 7:20 to 8:02.
Coffee helps me not eat until 12pm.

Question for experts.
Is BCAA before I workout with weights stop IF?
If not, what about protein shake after I work out?

I figured on days that workout to shift my IF to 9am to 3pm instead of 12pm to 6pm.

I lift weights and cardio early am. I could eat right now but I’ll hold out until 10:45 before I need to give other ppl lunch breaks.

I generally workout at 5:00am. 45 minute cycling class two days a week. Crossfit style metcon 3 days a week. I don't generally eat until over 13 hours later around 6pm or 7pm. As others said, your body gets accustomed to it.

I will say when I moved away from my lifting and started working the cycling class into it which is more aerobic than the metcon, I definitely found myself feeling hungrier than usual. Not sure if that was in my head or what.

What Breaks a Fast and What Does NOT Break a Fast

I fast from 8pm until noon everyday. I workout at 5am during the week and anywhere from 7-9am on the weekends. I don’t know why or how, but I don’t feel depleted after my workout and can comfortably make it until noon without eating. I do two days of cardio and 4 days of lifting. I’ve actually gained muscle and strength, and have been lifting heavier since I’ve been fasting. I don’t restrict calories, but all of my clothes are fitting much looser and I’m down about 5 lbs. I guess you really do just get used to it, but it was never difficult for me in the first place.

*I am female, so I’m not lifting as heavy as you guys - for the past few weeks I’ve been doing two warmup sets followed by two sets to failure of every exercise with no problem.

Damn, I have been doing IF 7pm - Noon but also drinking an Amino Energy drink at 10:45... After watching that video it looks like that is when I am breaking it. 10 calories and 2g Carbs

This is what I’ve been trying to research. And basically it seems like it’s a gray area.

Lean Gains - says it doesn’t break the fast enough to lose any of the benefits.

Jim Stoppani - says it Does break the fast and you should lift in your feeding window after you have a shake (but he sells supplements so the more shakes you drink the better for him)

Kino - seems to follow the LG protocol for the most part

LSU777 - agrees with LG

Delauer - says it breaks fast.

I’ve read several other articles saying that it does indeed break your fast, but as long as you take right before you lift, and then start your feeding window after working out, that lifting fasted with BCAA’s may just be more beneficial.

So that’s what I’m doing now, and feel really good.

Once I make it noon I’m not hungry. I have to force myself to eat. It’s frustrating me because I think it’s unhealthy for me. I took in 700 calories yesterday.

Ummmm? Elaborate please. 700 calories is a 1/3 of my recommended intake.

What are your Macros?

Bc if you’re only getting in 700 Cals a day, there is no way you’re hitting them.

And what did the 700 Cals consist of? Just curious.

Exactly. The 700 calories consisted of baked skinless/boneless chicken breasts and salad. This was it.

I pee about every 1.5 hours and at least once in the middle of the night. Luckily I'm close to the bathroom at work
