I made a post a while back that the EVA foam flooring I had in my gym to protect my vinyl plank flooring was pretty beat up and needed an upgrade. I finally had to do it because I don’t store plates evenly and the power rack actually was leaning due to compression of the foam. Anyway look how roached the old flooring was:

In the defense of the foam mats they did protect the floor totally. Anyway I got 2 4x6x3/4” rubber mats from a tractor place on Thursday and swapped them today. I put some vapor barrier down between the mats and the floor because I was worried the mats might stain the vinyl plank.

I waited so long to install it because they stank pretty bad and I left them on my patio in the sun and flipped them every day since Thursday. The smell isn’t GONE but it’s manageable now and I assume will dissipate more.

It’s SO much more stable benching and squatting on it compared to the foam mats and looks a lot cleaner too. I think it was about $300 for both.

I’ll test it out with Silverback w4d3 tomorrow :)

Everybody complains about the smell but I bought the same ones from tractor supply and never had a problem with the smell. Could be that the tractor supply I bought them from stored the mats outside. But anyway, yeah those fricking things are indestructible

jesus. they are like 40 a mat at tractor supply here in the states.

and yea smell will dissipate. Most tractor supply stores in the US store them outside so the smell usually isnt bad.

smart putting down that vapor barrier.

Question - if you put these down in a garage, can you still Park your car on them, or is that going to ruin the mats?

yeo, wont hurt the mats at all

they are made for horses stomping around on them. only way to hurt them is heat or blade and even that aint easy.
