The only way to really do that would be to start your feeding window at 6am. That’s not an option for me, I have eat right before bed so 12-8 with an 8:30 bedtime is perfect for me. I swim at 5am, but I’m not really breaking down muscle like I would if I were to lift. When my training gets intense and I do these 3-6 hour workouts on weekends I skip the fasting those days so I can fuel my workout.

Yea don't worry about catabolism, eat plenty of protein (50% of calories from protein minimum, 60% preferred) and eat in a surplus overall if gaining strength is the goal. Eating window can either be traditional 12-8 or you could do 6:30 and finish eating by 2:30. Either is fine. You are over thinking things.

For most people restricting their eating times, the evening meal ends up being anchored due to family, but the other meals can be adjusted to tighten up the window.

Skipping breakfast and having a late-ish lunch works really well if you're working full time on straight days and have a family at home.

It is. I usually eat about 40% of my calories in the early afternoon and then the rest 60% for dinner. Now that I think about it I don't really ever think about food other than those two times. Maybe I'm turning into a dog?

I get that they are big on evidenced based, so they need concrete studies in order to recommend it to patients. I also know that it takes a while for these to be approved, carried out, published, and then relied upon. Luckily, I think there are active studies testing this very thing according to one of Peter Attia’s podcasts.
While this is true, you’d be surprised (or really probably not) how many people aren’t as interested in what they can do to help themselves but moreso what you can do to magically fix them

Cut your calories to under 2000, cut your daily carbs under 40g, and don’t eat after 6pm or before 6am, water is fine. Cardio 30-40 minutes 3x - 4x week.

Of course if you have a work function/special occasion be normal, but otherwise follow this, which is practical long term diet one can easily follow and your lifestyle will greatly improve.

Good luck with type II, easily reversible in many cases
