I’ve heard different scenarios below. Which is it?

-Drink tons of water because the creatine pushes the water into your muscles to make them bigger.
-Drink tons of water because creatine takes your body’s water and you could become dehydrated.
-Doesn’t matter if you drink tons of water or not. The creatine will get what it needs from your normal fluid intake.

Which is it?

Drink tons of water. Literally on the bottle.

Plus dehydration in any form is bad

I think it obviously maters - if you're dehydrated then you won't perform well. I'm not convinced that creatine is really that influential when it comes to dehydration, but I'm not a doctor.

The only thing that I have heard is to take creatine with carbs to assist with absorption.

I’m stuck between wanting to take creatine for the strength boost and not wanting it because I don’t want the water increase that will make me look fatter

It will also cost you some hair if you're susceptible at all to DHT related hair loss.

It stores water in your muscle bellies, not under your skin.

LINK

Increases DHT levels substantially, so if you're sensitive to DHT related hair loss the connection is apparent.

Interesting. I was losing hair before I started taking creatine but it hasn't gotten worse since I started. Maybe it's not DHT for me
