Having seen some coworkers end up with long-hauler symptoms and one have to go onto disability (in her 30s), I tend to agree.
I got my second Moderna shot this afternoon. Sore arm, feeling a little fatigued right now, and feel a little warm/flushed but no fever.
It seems the worst of the side effects hits the next day so we'll see what happens.

FWIW..Know some folks in their early 70's. Just got their second dose yesterday of Moderna. Some soreness in the arm otherwise nothing.
I just got my first Moderna today. Nothing so far.
Speaking of long haulers, much is not known yet about the long term symptoms. This 60 Minutes Piece Will Scare The Shite Out Of You.
Mayo Clinic Piece On Long Term Effects.
It ain't the flu and it "could" mess you up big time. Small percentage of course, but do you want to mess with it? I don't.

So, 48 hours out from 2nd Moderna shot.
Day of shot: Mild fatigue, arm soreness at injection site. Mild dizziness.
Night of shot: Slept pretty well. But heavier than usual. Had some sweating but no fever.
24 hours: Fatigue really hit. Basically napped between work Zoom meetings and went to bed really early. Putting up groceries from a delivery order and I was spent. Dizziness on and off. Mild headache. Swelling, redness, and heat at the injection site but not much pain. Mild joint pain. Also had some diarrhea but no nausea. Made sure to crush a ton of water when awake.
48 hours (today): Still some fatigue but not as bad. The occasional wave of mild dizziness. Injection site still swollen and red. Noticed a small lymph node in armpit of injection arm is swollen, so went ahead and rescheduled my annual mammogram for a little later than planned.
Thankfully no fever. Most of my coworkers had 102 degree-ish fevers. That said, I almost never run a fever even when I had full blown strep and the flu so I’m wondering if it’s just something in my personal immune response.

Thanks. I am so far. Had some achy legs last night but nothing major. Dizziness seems to have passed. I do have a little bit of “COVID arm” at the injection site with a red welp, minor itching, and swelling. Icing it and a little anti-histamine cream has helped.
As you said, given I know some folks my age with long-haul symptoms I’ll take a couple days of this. Considering it also reduces viral load, hopefully it’ll be sufficient to protect the immunocompromised kids and family I’m around too. I work with a couple that can’t be medically vaccinated due to previous vaccine reactions.

Good to hear! I didn't have any reaction. Nor did my wife. I can kinda feel where the injection was but minor. I tried to move my arm around a lot initially and took some Tylenol as a precaution, but probably wasn't needed.
Did learn two things: 1) They said if you're allergic to laxatives you can't take the shot. Damn if that's not true. If you're allergic to polyethylene glycol (which apparently is in some laxatives and the vaccines, you should wait to get the COVID vaccine. Known to cause anaphylaxis.
2) Single dose gives a fairly high % of protection. My neighbor (the Infectious Disease physician involved in one of the trials up here) told me:
Yes. very likely. By 14 days post vaccine, we see >80% protection.

Bumping this old thread because I just got the first jab. Wasn’t excited to get it, but I interact with so many different clients at work that I decided to get it.
