Been out of the protein shakes deal for a while now.

What is the best recovery protein now. 35 and starting to notice that good muscle pain is now lingering painful pain.

It would be best to get your protein in through whole foods. If you really need a supp, Optimum Nutrition is a good brand. What does your sleep look like? Are you dealing with stress? How often are you training each muscle group.

Sleep is shite. 2 kids under 16 months. Legs cramp at night as well

Stress level pretty average I'd say considering situation.

I'm not over lifting. Im training for mountain elk hunt. I do stadiums 2 to 3x per week

Chest and back
Bis and tris

Rest on sunday.

I've done some type of physical training since I was 18. I got off any supplements about 6 yrs ago.

there's a ton of protein powders out there to choose from. really comes down to finding the best flavor for the best price in my opinion. good place to look is bodybuilding.com and find flavors that are 9.0 or higher.

That def has a major effect. Try to get more sleep if possible. You may want to consider spacing out your training days to allow more time for rest. So, if you get your training done within 4 days, stretch it out to 7 maybe.

I thought this for a while too, there is definitely a difference in quality though. I use Dymatize ISO100. One of the highest rated (via actual lab analysis) proteins that is readily available. Flavors are good too.

im sure there are plenty that are not good quality. I mean there are thousands and thousands of supplement companies these days. but for the most part if you stick with optimum, myprotein, or any of the top selling on bodybuilding.com you'll be fine. there's really no difference is paying $50 for 100% pure or $40 for 80% pure.

Honestly, I drink the premixed Premier Protein shakes and they are the best tasting ones I've had. The chocolate ones are awesome.

There might be better recovery shakes, but they are easy as hell since they are premixed and actually taste damn good.

I go with the Core Power 42g.
Buy by the case on Amazon and you can save a ton of money.

I find that ~50g protein from casein at night helps me out but honestly you gotta get your sleep right. Sleep, sleep, sleep. Never underestimate it.

I have sleep apnea, but before I found out about it I was struggling with tendonitis in several places, soreness lasting 3-4 days, and just felt like every workout was pushing it to the max, even on days when I knew I wasn't. Since I've gotten better sleep, it's really a massive difference in recovery. I can lift more weight more frequently and feel better. My cardio's improved. Everything.

Sleep is paramount.
