You shut your mouth when you’re talking to me.

You have any opinion on the Mikolo rack I mentioned? I found a pretty good video of a guy going through all the pros and cons of it. Or do you think it would be better to just spend the extra money on a Titan T-2 or T-3 rig and slowly piece the rest together?

I have a Rep 5000 rack with Athena attachment. Mine is 93” tall. I love it and would highly recommend. I have the middle lat/row plate loaded attachment along with the two selectorized weight stacks. Rep makes some quality gear.

I’ll check that out. The Inspire multi-function trainer is the one piece I’d probably rethink.

so you want to do 3x3 with either 1" or 5/8" holes and 11g steel. the K series from Mikolo is lower than that. the P5 series would be the only one i would even think about and even that is 12g
i think you would be better with titan or even fray and waiting.

yea the rep with athena will give you full functional trainer, plus ability to do full barbell work safely and lots of other exercises.

Seems like the titan T-3 series comes close to the specs you mentioned 2x3 11g steel
Posted on 10/3/24 at 8:18 am to Ag_16
yea the T-3 is fine, prolly better off with the rep pr 4000 or the fray fitness F series. The reason i say 3x3 because that is what most accessories fit so it allows you to slowly upgrade
Posted on 10/4/24 at 10:36 pm to lsu777
Very true. I upgraded from just a standard rack. The new rack with the Athena has opened up so many new exercises that I couldn’t do before. It’s expensive gear, but if you upgrade one every fifteen years like I do you can justify it.

Another question for ya, what did yall spend on bumper plates? $1/lb pretty typical? (Used)
I’m trying to go the used route but I found 350lbs for $368 on Homegrown lifting. Might end up going that way

i grabbed some from rogue on a black friday sale couple years ago. dont remember what i paid

Another question: for a barbell, do I just spend the extra money and go Rogue or are there some high quality more reasonably priced options you’d suggest?
Posted on 10/11/24 at 12:58 am to Ag_16
A good barbell is worth the money, but if you're on an unavoidable budget there's ways around that issue. Rogue and Texas Power Bars almost always have sales of bars that are "blemished", meaning they sustained some kind of cosmetic damage that doesn't affect their performance but they have a scratch or a gouge somewhere, usually on the sleeve, so it really doesn't matter unless you just really want a pristine bar out of the box. I'd suggest you go to each companies website and sign up for their email lists and they will notify you, but there's always blemished bars in stock. I'm checking now and Rogue has Ohio bars in the boneyard sale bin for $200, Texas Power Bars(the standard version) is $220. They have a lot of options for blemished bars. No warranties, but with those 2 companies I don't think it matters, those bars will outlive you.

rogue and texas are the best reasonable priced but the ones from fringe, getrxd, rep are still good.

If you're in the Houston area, there is a Cap warehouse near Westpark and the beltway. They have bumper plates for $1/lb.

Is 28.5 mm standard or 29mm?
Posted on 10/11/24 at 11:40 am to Ag_16
28.5mm is standard olympic bar, 29 is a standard power bar.
either will work.
imo....just get a 28.5 or 29 boneyard bar from rogue
28.5
29
power is gonna have more aggressive knurling and will have center knurling. some like it, some dont
if you want brand new...the bare steel ohio power is nice LINK
a blemished texas power bar is another great option too
LINK
i have a bare steel ohio(28.5), an OG texas power bar, rogue bar and couple others and my perferred is the bar steel ohio by good margin
