I have some loose skin, especially around my mid-section, from losing a lot of weight a few years ago. I did weigh 255 and now I'm down to about 190.

I was just reading recently about autophagy through fasting and it being able to help with loose skin by regenerating skin cells. I am already intermittent fasting and only eating during a 1-2 hour window every day but I was thinking about attempting a longer fast starting next week.

Does anyone have any opinions on this topic? I'm no expert other than what I've read online.

IDK what it will do for loose skin but actual multi day fasting will give big time benefits and boost your growth hormone enormously. You should do it, everyone should. It gives your body a chance to reset and heal. If you are going to do it is best to build up to it like everything else. You don't want to start with a week long fast if it is your first time doing a multiday fast is what I mean. And then make sure you have proper food for when your fast ends.

I might try to go three days and then I'll see how I'm feeling. I've seen a few other people on the board talking about the benefits of longer fasts.

Yeah. May even just want to try a one day fast first. A lot of people think the hardest part of a fast is the first three days. You feel hungry because the ghrelin hormone hasn't deactivated yet. For a lot of people that stops on like the fourth or fifth day and fasting becomes less taxing then. I just did a four day fast last week and I was "hungrier" the third day than the fourth. Everyone will have their own quirks though. Good luck to you.

IMO it will be a lot easier to do if you know at the start how long you are going for. An indescript amount of time will allow you to short change yourself if you feel like it. So just know what your goal is going in imo.

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to try it next week and see how it goes and then hopefully make it a regular thing for me over time.

On a fast say longer than 1 day. what are you drinking? just water? and eating nothing at all?

I've done a 1/2day fast before, and been intrigued by a longer fast. But, don't know proper details.

I've never had diarrhea when fasting. That must go in the personal quirk file.
