42 white male, very active former athlete that runs and lifts 6 days a week. I go to a cardiologist every year since i was 40 because my dad had quadruple bypass at 39(hes still alive).

Long story longer I had my second echo last week and the doctor just called with the results. he said heart is in great shape and very healthy, but he wants to keep an eye on the sinuses of the Valsalva being dilated to 4.6, up from 4.3 two years ago. He said anything over 5 we need to look at surgery.

He said don't lose sleep over it and scheduled a CT of the heart for Dec.

Any experience this? He also said it can be from high BP or cholesterol, but both are fine.

Keep BP controlled and have an echo every 6 months to a year. I do echo for a living. Anything over 4 cm at the sinus we will say dilated. Doctor is correct telling you once it gets to 5 cm, surgery starts to become more of a consideration. They take other factors into consideration like if your aortic valve is starting to leak significantly or the rate of expansion of the aorta is increasing. Sometimes it will stay at that size for the rest of your life but it’s not guaranteed. Hope th is s helps somewhat.

thanks man, im in DFW and my guy is a stud. He has me scheduled for an echo in Dec. You think thats too long?

Im just worried about BP and cholesterol. Has to be genetic, i eat everything green and watch everything that goes in my body.

I wonder if this will affect how i work out.

I thought only ladies had a vasalva

Anyway I would bet this is dietary and you’re missing something that’s causing this and if you put it back into your diet it’ll get better without surgery. Don’t ask me why I think that

I’d probably start with leafy greens and wild game/organ meats

ETA: are you vaxed?

I got the original vax 2 dose but no boosters

Also he said my heart was up .2cm from 2019 when it was 4.4 which is enlarged

I eat and workout better than most. My wife makes fun of me because everything I eat is super healthy. Trust me, clean diet with fruits and veggies ain’t my problem
