Just curious if anyone does this. I'm going to be doing it just for something different and we'll be incorporating so during our drill weekends.
I like the goruck backpacks but not at that price range, so the ole uncle Sam ones will work.

How much does a backpack have to weigh for it to be considered rucking? I walk a ton on Sundays with a pack, but not sure it that counts.

I've done it, just with a plate carrier weight vest, if that qualifies.
It's about what you would think it is.

Depends on the individual, but I believe for "training" that if you weight over 150 then your ruck should be no more than 30lbs. Again, that's for training. My best was a Bataan Death March w/38lb ruck. But that was about 5yrs ago and I want to get back to using a ruck for training.

I got on a kick a few years back walking in the park with my 70# buyout bag. You want a high quality backpack, with a good waist strap.

I started with around 80 in my pack on an unsupported backpacking trip in Alaska a few years ago. I look back on it and marvel a little bit that I was able to do it.

Just did 4 miles this morning in an hour seven minutes with a go ruck and 45lbs
No a big fan of the go ruck honestly, but my group chief let me borrow it
I need a frame ruck again, I could knockout 4 miles in 50mins with that no problem

The Go Rucks are garbage. If you really want the best gear you gotta find the old Alice pack like this...

The standard for rucking is 12 miles in 3 hours with a 35lbs ruck.

I had a really good frame ruck but it got stolen
Never been a fan of the Alice pack and how to store equipment in it
