14 year old son, 5'9" approx 155 lbs is doing a lot of activity (football practice x3, soccer practice x1, and boxing classes x1 weekly) he will be running track again also, sprints and hurdles. Was putting on muscle well last year (doing less) but I'm concerned he won't get enough calories or protein. I want to get whey protein powder:
Question: it has soy....is it enough to throw his testosterone? Should I avoid the soy?
Question 2: Vitamin Packs(don't know if I can say brand...sounds vaguely like Fanimal Back)...every active day? Other options

I started using the women's whey from Trader Joe's bc its the best bang for buck between cost, being low carb (keto) and obv protein per $ spent. Will post the brand and maybe a pic later

Thanks Sir Winston... anything in particular make it a women's powder or just a marketing angle? Also, had some popular whey powder ( how i saw the soy) and it was thick and slimy in milk which did not go over well..is that just the nature of it?

Optimum Nutrition offers hands down the best bang for buck when it comes to quality whey protein brands.

Their Gold Standard whey is good for most, but I spring for the Platinum for less non-protein content per scoop.

Soy dodoesn'lower testosterone its a myth but its not the best protein source either. If you can get whey isolate that better but overall just get him what he will actually drink.

Animal packs are fine but expensive. Just get a regular multi, it's really all he needs.

So rule of thumb is he needs to get in 1000 calories before 9 am. In his case since he is 14 you could say 10 if you had to. If he can do that consistently then have lunch, snack after school(maybe a protein shake) a big dinner and a snack before bed he will be fine.

Doesn't matter how he gets the calories at first. Could be pizza, eggs, bacon, peanut butter on waffles, doesn't matter just get them in.

Slowly over time, have him slowly go to healthier meals but at first just get protein and calorie laden meals in.

Another trick is adding small amounts of olive oil to shakes. Start small but it's an easy way to add calories. Grass fed butter is another easy way.

Don’t do soy. Get whey isolate. Whey concentrate is good enough if not lactose intolerant.

But, at that age just give him meat and potatoes and add some fruit.
