You ever think about how Rory Mcilroys ball flight is poorly suited for where he grew up?

He hits the ball super high with a lot of spin and moves it a good amount. This is the opposite of what you want to do when playing links golf in Ireland.

I know that if you’re as good as him you can play anywhere, I just think it’s interesting.

These guys can flight the ball on command. I can assure you Rory has the ability to hit a low ball off the tee if need be.

Roy grew up watching tiger overpower pretty much everywhere. The game completely changed.

Of course he does but it’s not his go to and really he’s pretty bad at it comparatively to his other golf skills. Just interesting for a Northern Ireland guy

Rory was playing all over the world at a young age. Modern golf is basically played with high ball flight everywhere now.

He's been playing all over the world since his teenage years.

It's not like he was in some faraway corner of the world and finally ventured out when he was 25

He has the ability to hit it low… 2 iron at the Scottish last year is an example. Recently, he hit multiple bullets with driver at the US Open that never got more than 50 ft off the ground.

I thought the course he grew up on was more parkland than links anyway

This ^^^ He just used this ball flight to lose by 1 at the us open. He used his driving iron today flighted and hit it in the shite. The shot that got him in trouble was a mini flighted wedge on 8 just a hair right. Wheels fell off from when he left it in the bunker on 8.

I thought his course mgmt. was awful, hitting driver where he shouldn't. Again something a new caddie could possibly correct at least a little. Or have him just reset himself during instances where shite's hitting the fan.

His ball flight was the least of his issues. Especially the way he rolled it and the way he hit his driver/irons. His whole game was arse...it's golf these days happen to the best of em.

He didn’t grow up on a links course and also played all over the world from a very young age

It is interesting. He has stated in interviews that he prefers American-style golf to links-style.
