But why kill it before it has a chance?

because I and most golf fans would prefer all the best golfers in the world play on the same tour. The LIV Tour's goal, regardless of what they may want you to believe, is not to provide side events for Tour players. Their goal is to compete with the PGA Tour, just like the USFL was trying to compete with the NFL. They're not paying players collectively billions of dollars in contracts and purses to have a handful of events a year. I think the people rooting for it are doing so just for the drama it has caused and care very little for the actual events being played.

Also, regardless of what a player would say, guaranteed Income lessons the product. 100% I understand why players are fighting for it, I would do the same in their shoes. But me the consumer likes the tennis and golf model

Do you realize how ducking awesome football and basketball would be if all their money was tied to current performance? Good lord that would be insane for the fans

Yes.

Have they said anything on how the pairings will be done on Sunday? Will the leaders play together or will the team played together?

It will be a random drawing out of hat. Purchasing floating mulligans will be optional along with one red blast. Closest to the hole on all par 3s will also be done.

Say 3-4 guys are neck and neck coming down the stretch but all at opposite ends of the golf course.

I am assuming that they will group the leaders together, and the closer you are to the lead, the closer to hole 1 you will start. So, come Sunday, the leaders will more than likely be in the same area of the course. Also, in normal events, if a guy comes back from 7 down or something, the coverage is still a bit weird because that person is finishing possibly an hour before the last group. At least with this, all the contenders are finishing at the same time, it just might be in different areas.

That is what I am interested in. Take Sam Burns winning a couple of weeks ago. He finished so long before Scheffler that nobody was even sure it would be enough to get into a playoff. With this shotgun start, Burns might finish on hole 5 or something while Scheffler is finishing on 18. So, we are trading them finishing at different times on the same hole to finish at the same time on different holes.

Shotgun starts get klunky. When a guy is -14 at Augusta and in the clubhouse, I know the guy at -11 on 13 tee has a chance to catch him. When they are on different holes, it's harder to remember what everyone has left.

I will watch to see what it is like. Doubt it will be that great, but I will give it a shot.

I presume this as well. Unless someone goes really low, the leaders will still be grouped for the final round.

I think this will make for some exciting golf. The shortened event likely means more players will be in contention on the last day.

I had not heard about the closest to the pin bit. Depending on the prize money, that makes for some interesting risk-reward scenarios.

Yes. Hope Phil wins it. PGA is wrong. They don’t own any of the players image

I’ll watch but I think it’s going to suck TBH, seems great for the players but not so much for the fans.

It’s intriguing being new but longevity of watching? Going to have to get a lot more names on the board.

If players can play in the majors, I think a lot more will jump ship to LIV and majors will be the only true competitive thing to watch

I don’t think that’s what will happen. You are playing with your team right? I assumed the 4 guys in the group were all teammates?

I doubt it because they're not going to have foursomes. That would be way too slow. Also, I doubt there is much on course strategy for teams since these guys may have just met each other that weekend.
