Played City Park on Monday. With Alberto winds it was tough to stop the ball going down breeze, but the greens/tees/fairways were all in really good shape. Still wish they would’ve hired a real architect to design it, course is kind of a snooze fest.

Yea Rees Jones sucks, we should’ve just built another shitty Dye course.

I didn’t realize a prerequisite for getting the City Park commission was to be older than dirt.

There are lots of young guys from the Doak/Crenshaw/Hanse tree who would’ve jumped at the chance to do something awesome with the budget CPark was working with. Some of the holes are interesting, but the green complexes are boring as f.

No doubt, but I think the only one of those 3 who might have been interested was Hanse, Doak isn’t putting his name near anything where he has to man make anything, Coore/Crenshaw are pretty much on the same page as well in their latest designs.

20 days and I’ll be on a Doak

Sweet. Wasn’t specifically talking about one of the big 3 architects, but one of their protégés. Man, get a young guy with some creativity, a blank canvas, and $14 million dollars. Gotta think we would’ve gotten something better.

I played a Coore/Crenshaw in Georgia, it was awesome to actually have to think about angles and slopes and shite, loved it.

Almost as good as BawTour...

I played at LaTour on Memorial Day and Sugalrland on Tuesday.
LaTour was wonderful and in really good shape. The staff was very friendly and they even invited my dad to come back on the second Tuesday of each month for senior day.
Surgarland on the other hand is a compete joke.
First off, the encroaching trees on the front nine make driving nearly impossible on certain holes.
Secondly, there is no grass on the fairways and the unending bumps are like driving on the moon.
Third, it was crowded as heck.
Lastly, the greens were nothing more then a mixture of sand and baked crud.
To charge anyone $30 to play this monstrosity is a travesty!

The Island. Tees, fairways, rough, bunkers are all good and playing fast and firm. Greens need some help. Thin, hard and bumpy.

Grand Bear today. Course is in great shape as always. They closed for aerification and maintenance 2 weeks ago. Its coming along great. Fairways are perfect. Give the greens another week and it will be "primo". Maybe not La Tour quality, but definitely right behind.

Hidden Creek Navarre FL

Teed off at 8:33 AM. Some clouds and light rain on the front nine. Greens were just cut in the morning. Very speedy for how the course normally sets up. A little damp but not too bad. Bunkers have that fat beach sand so it was easy to hit it fat. Very good fairway conditions nice and soft with not many tight lies.

Played TPC today. Shot 80 from the tips - was pretty windy too so no complaints. That was my first time on the course, I really enjoyed it. Greens are thin in spots but roll fast and true. Tee boxes and fairways impeccable.

It looks like they purposely burned all the grass on the fringes - not sure if they were having weed issues and are trying to prevent them from creeping onto the greens or something.

Fairways dry and fast. A few greens were missing grass but did not affect play. Tee boxes need some grass too. Overall great value.

83.
