Who here swings irons with graphite shafts?

Have a graphite shaft in my 4 iron. Don’t notice much of a difference

I am still using my Buttonbacks from 1971. I have gone from R300 steel, to X-300, to X-100, and back to R-300. Now, due to Dupuytren's Contracture and old age, I have installed a set of Graphtech graphite shafts in A flex. I couldn't be happier. I spined the shafts and put the softest side facing down range. With that and the low kick point I get a really high trajectory, which is perfect for the goat ranches around here. The graphite I found was much softer and easier on my hands than a comparable steel A flex shaft. Do they add more clubhead speed? I doubt it, unless the low kick point is adding a couple mph. I hit the 7 iron 150-160.

Oh yeah, the shafts were around 20 bucks each, without looking them up on Golfworks.

How are you handling this? Have you had the surgery or that new shot?

It runs in my family. My mom has it. I’ve already started doing stretches in the fingers that the doc says should help as a method of slowing down progressions should it pop up.

I had the surgery on my right hand, back in 2012. The recovery and PT was rough. It is coming back again in my right hand. So far the pinky is starting to curl, but it isn't too bad, yet. My middle finger (aka the bird finger) also has some curvature to it. On my left hand three of my four fingers are curving towards closed. So far it doesn't affect my golf game other than my fingers get sore if I hit too many balls. Eventually I'll have to address the issue again, which will mean more surgery. As for what I do to counteract the effects, mostly I do the exercises I learned in PT after the surgery. I squeeze a tennis ball religiously.

Although I love my leather grips, obviously I am going to have to go to something softer soon.

Have you looked into the shot? It’s the commercial with John Elway. So far I’ve heard good things.

That’s the kind of stuff I’m doing now as a “preventative.” Basically the doc told me it can’t hurt, but it may not actually prevent anything.

yes, I recommend them. I have recoil shafts in my 7 year old apex irons. Never thought I'd switch from steel and will now never go back.
