Is the $100k club that easy to join that you can just write the check and you are in? I think most that I know in that range require a much longer process of being invited and having members sponsor you etc.

Go with #1.

Get equity, low number of members, amortized initiation, close to house, nice amenities.

You'll be glad you did over the long haul.

This and it is not really close IMO. 1200 members is way to many to truly have a club feel.

Lot easier to recommend joining the 100k club when it isn’t your money.

We aren’t the ones who presented it as an option?

If OP included it, I’m assuming dropping 100k + dues on something like golf is no issue for him. In that case it’s a pretty clear winner.

I'd go with #1, especially since the initiation can be spread out over 5 years. You'll be happier in the long run with the equity & exclusivity of it.

Switched to a club corp club when I moved last year, it’s no different feel than my previous equity club, and has the added benefit of being able to use any of their other in network options when traveling.

You can also apparently move your membership if you move.

Went with option 2. 20k initiation. non equity. 2 clubs.

Of the 400 members, 250 of them play almost exclusively at the club 1.5 miles from me. That is a very family friendly club. Pools, weekly events etc.

The second club is about a ten minute drive and the other 150 members play there. It’s a golf course and a bar. That’s it. I found a gin game there. Adult themed events. Whiskey tastings. Wine nights. Tacos and tequila.

No problem getting times at either. I think I’m going to play mostly the course with less regular players more. I like the course better. And family dinners/ Santa brunch/ pool during summer at the other.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts. Most of you agreed the equity club was the best. I agree. But stroking that check for 5 straight years as opposed to 1 was the difference. If I was an OT baller like y’all I would have gone with it.
