When addressing the ball? The thought process involved in your swing technique?

Step 1- grip it
Step 2- rip it
Step 2- rip it

It’s all, over before I address the ball. I do it all on my practice swing. I see the shot make a practice swing that feels like what I see. When I step in I react to,that picture. It has to be a response. You will, paralyze yourself if you over think it and get caught up in process.

Before i address it, I’ve decided what my target it, and the shape of the shot I’m going to hit.
Where I put it in my stance and whether the club is square to the line are the only adjustments I’ll make once I address it.
No, the face isn’t always square to the target unless I’m trying to hit it straightish.
The only thought I have in the swing is slow takeaway. Fast gets me off balance. Fast is swinging hard though, and who doesn’t like to rip it? So I’m always fighting that.

A friend use to tell me:
“Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast.”
I’ve found simple phrases can help me get around the course- sometimes.
The dumbest thing I do is sometimes I will aim at trouble. “I’ll cut it off the pond.” Or “the ball is above my feet so let’s draw it off the big oak.” Aiming at trouble creates a straight ball flight for me leading to many splash or crash outcomes.

I’ve found the almighty occasionally rewards that.

I played a par 3 course today, with relatives and a co worker. Few good shots here, a few bad here. Went to the range they have, hit the best iron shots in my life.. if I had played that good during the course I would have done great… golf in a nutshell

This is me. I don't take the game of golf all that seriously, but if I realize I'm standing over the ball too long I'll step off the shot and redo it.
That weird scrambled focus you get standing over the ball too long 9/10 times results in a bad shot.
