How the hell did Hudson Swafford get full status for the year?

It’s fine to criticize the initial results, but if they get it together & put a couple good tournaments together, one of them could earn their way on LIV for 2025

I just don’t get why they wouldn’t hold this for Doral as a one time thing and see how it goes.

If he truly wants to play on LIV long term, then him joining now & playing 11 events is the best way for him to earn his status.

So you think it made more sense to sign him for the entire year instead of one event to see how it goes?

I mean they’re not paying him $7.5-10M to show for 1 tournament. He wanted $10M & they wanted a season long competitor

But is Kim shoots bad and doesn’t have it, it would be a better deal for liv for him to only play one event

Just based on the attention it's gotten in the golf world thus far it was a great signing even if he DFL's every event. If you can justify the numbers they've given Phil, Rahm, Cam etc then $10mm for AK is very easy to justify.

I was unlikely to pay any attention to LIV Jeddah before the AK signing, but I'll probably check it out as soon as I wake up tomorrow morning now that he's in the field.

I 100% think the exact opposite

If he DFL every event, you will have an unbelievably small bump in initial ratings, then a year long stunt of a guy being awful

I think people severely overestimate the twitter/message board golf circle. But even with that circle, the entire thing is dead after one bad round/result. You have seen “the return of the legend” and it wasn’t good

And if he shoot’s awful you are done with it. And so is everyone else. Yet, Liv will have him for The rest of the year while liv claim to be an open tour that is deserving of ranking points

He he plays well it’s all moot, but if he plays bad it’s absolutely a net negative for LIV by giving him full status.

I'd like to think I give him a couple of weeks considering he hasn't played competitive golf in over a decade, but you might be right.

I still think it's a good investment when you consider the cost compared to pros they've signed and money they spent.

It's not like it can hurt anyway, if he sucks you lost $10mmm, which is apparently nothing to PIF. No one cares if there's one extra golfer out there at the bottom of the standings

I guess you can think that, but that’s not the reality.

He can shoot over par this weekend & finish DFL and now nobody cares about him anymore?

What if he finishes top 10 in Hong Kong next week? What if he wins an event in US?

He just needs somewhere around 50-60 pts in the season standings to finish top 24 & qualify for next year. DJ already has that after 2 tournaments. It’s a win for LIV if he “earns” his way on to the 2025 roster.

Uh, yeh. There is absolutely nothing intriguing at all about AK at that point

The shelf life on people caring is about as small as ever for AK if he doesn’t play well

Until he plays well in one of the next tourneys & beats someone like Rahm or Dechambeau.

Thats why it’s beneficial to have him on for rest of season. Even if he underwhelms & never finishes top 10, it’s still worth it to see if he can play well enough to earn status for next season

You're just assuming he plays terribly. I agree it's the most likely outcome, but he could be competitive in a couple of tournaments and if so it makes it must watch imo.

If he plays well it will be intriguing. Not a single person will care anymore if he is finishing 40 in liv events

The mystique was “how good could Kim be??? I hear js is shooting 62s and dominating money games”

Nobody cares to watch a golfer who hasn’t played in 12 years finish 40 in liv events .

I am very much intrigued at how AK plays this week and in future events. If he finishes last this tournament and next, I’ll still tune in to watch him in the following event.

The PGA tour excitement is at an all time low. You’re underestimating the draw or allure of something fresh.

For the record, I watch both tours and enjoy them both equally.

I think you are overestimating someone shooting over par rounds as “fresh”

He absolutely has to play good for this to have a single ounce of saying power

You don’t give him a few weeks? It all comes down to this weekend? Thank goodness you aren’t Coody’s agent.

Pride gets his takes from legacy golf media and breakaway golf media like fried egg and no laying up who employ the same cucks but they do podcasts and wear shorts.

Comparing Coody, a young rising golfer to a guy 12 years removed who had a drug problem

Look, today showed Kim wasn’t some sleeping golf giant the last few years just waiting to shoot 60s and dominate. It was myth, a lore. I am looking at his ball speed numbers. It’s clear he hasn’t played much at all
