Zachary, LA – Grady Brame Jr. of Hammond, Louisiana, posted a 9-under-par 62 on Thursday at Beaver Creek Golf Club to earn medalist honors at U.S. Amateur Local Qualifying. Brame led a 72-player field competing for seven qualifying spots and two alternate positions into Final Qualifying for the 2025 U.S. Amateur Championship.
Brame’s round included eight birdies, one eagle, and a single bogey, with highlights on both sides of the card. He opened with back-to-back birdies on holes 1 and 2 and added an eagle on the par-5 6th. A birdie on the par-4 9th sent him out in 31.
On the back nine, Brame birdied holes 11, 12, 15, 16, and 18 to offset a bogey on the par-4 14th and came in with another 31 for a total of 62.
The next lowest score came from Justin Burroughs of Pensacola, Florida, who shot a 6-under 65. Lawrence Allan of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, finished third at 66 (-5), followed by Noah McWilliams of Benton, Louisiana, with a 67 (-4).
Three players tied at 68 (-3) to round out the final qualifying spots:
William Suell (Houston, TX)
Carter Schmitt (Baton Rouge, LA)
William Jennings (Greenville, SC)
Two alternates were also named:
First Alternate: Jack Hundley (Panama City Beach, Florida)
Second Alternate: Zachary Robertson (Lake Charles, Louisiana)
The qualifier was contested from the championship tees at Beaver Creek Golf Club and is one of more than 100 U.S. Amateur local qualifying sites conducted by the USGA this year. Final Qualifying will take place at select sites across the country later this summer. The 2025 U.S. Amateur Championship will be held at The Olympic Club (Lake Course), San Francisco, California on August 11-17.

Grady Brame and Lawrence Allan. Both incredible golfers and SLU grads.

LSU is going to have a good group representing at the AM.
There is still another round of qualifying before the field is set to go to Olympic.

They have 3 that are exempt by being in the top 100 of WAGR. Hopefully, Noah makes it through as well.
