Public courses are different than private courses. BRCC is under utilized 100% of everyday based on your standards. But that's the exact point of private golf. You want u club to book every tee time before building another 18 and that is asinine.

Doesn't TAF own the land the current course is on? How are you guys proposing they buy this new land and develop a course worthy of putting their name on? Then y'all want them to not raise dues and not book 100% of tee times?

Every course is going to be booked solid on a nice Saturday morning before football season and hunting season.

If you start tee times at 7:30 and space them every 8 minutes (way too close but courses do it) and allow fivesomes you'll have 170 people with tee times before noon. I'm sure a substantial number of those are guests too

Having difficulty getting a prime Saturday morning tee time is how it's gone in Lafayette at Oakbourne, Le Triomphe, or the Wetlands too

I don't care if they raise dues, I'm not a member. I also don't care if they actually do it. I was just saying it seems like they could use the extra holes and that private expansion is different than public expansion.

I live in UC and play golf here. And I grew up in BR playing public courses. I drive by the range to and from work every day and I can tell you that about 75% of the swings on that range look pretty damn good. There are some serious golfers that play at UC. And they want to play.

As far as the weekends go every course is packed. That's just good golf at any decent course. UC is no different. The only issue here is everyone who is a member wants to play on the weekends. And they can, but not everyone can tee off at 8 am. You can play just about any afternoon at UC that you want with the exception of Friday. Lots of groups and games get played on Friday afternoon.

UC just announced a dues increase as well.

We have some issues here though. Our recent Member-Guest tournament filled up crazy quick and a lot of normal players didn't get to sign up. The wait list is ridiculously long. And this is a $1,000/team tournament...

First off the member guest is not a $1000/team tournament unless they increased the entry fee by almost double from last year. If that is the case, I hope they give out more of a tee gift than last year. Speaking with another member out there, the member guest was opened for signup and almost completely filled up before being closed down (when not completely filled). It was then opened up on a specific date with almost no spots left to fill and was filled up within the first 5 minutes on that specific date. Major screw up by management.

Well, they increased it then because it's $1000. And there's still about 50 people on the wait list.

4 of the holes already exist, with a connection under the bridge to the area on river side of the road. 5 holes fit nicely over there and adding 9 more holes would take a lot of pressure off the existing 18 hole course. 27 can closely be maintained for near same as 18. That was part of the original development plan.

The tunnel is under a street in the subdivision. Theres no room for additional holes, unless they acquired additional property across Nicholson

Greystone is open to the public.

Just call the pro shop for a tee time.

..but Greystone is a trash course during the winter. It doesn’t drain well and center of the fairway is terrible when it has been raining.

I have lost balls in the fairway and on approach shots due to plugging in the winter.

How many balls have you plugged in a round?

When I played Greystone when it was very wet a few winters ago, I plugged and lost 2 on 11 & 12. A few more elsewhere.

Fairways were extremely wet. You were better off in the rough.

They own the land across Nicholson, unless they sold it and there is room for a cart path connection where the bayou goes under Nicholson.

Not per EBR Assesors site. And that bayou fluctuates with rain fall too much to make a usable cart path, there’s also a RR track and a ton of pipelines in the area that wouldn’t let that happen.

It’s a mess out there right now. They are doing double tee times on Friday mornings with the last time at 9:30. There is the weekly scat game that gets 6 times starting at 11:30. So basically if you can’t tee off by 9:30, the earliest time available is 12:28. With the time change and days getting shorter, there are about 6 times in the afternoon that are available to be able to finish.

I have standing reminder at 6:55a on Friday mornings to call and get a time for the following Friday. I called 41 times one morning and never got through, others in the group called as well, earliest we normally get is anywhere between 1:15-1:45.

I’m currently looking to leave for another club. No point in being a member if I can’t get on the course.

Sounds miserable. Does it at least play fast once you're out there?

So does the weekly scat game always get the 11:30 tee times because of who "they are/know" or because they just so happen to get through early enough every week before? If you called 41 times and couldnt get through I find it hard to believe that the scat game just so happened to get through to book those same tee times week in and week out. Tee times in general over there are hard to get due to their hesitancy to pair up golfers. How many singles, twosomes and threesomes do you see mixed in back to back in the afternoons taking up tee times? Pair them up and allow others to get earlier tee times. Every club is going to have their typical BS that goes along with it. They got to this point because they dont care about the number of members they have, just the amount of money coming in. It's not that hard to see how often the tee sheet is booked up solid and realize that maybe they are getting to the point of allowing to many members, but the right people would have to be looking at that.

Maybe your group needs to take turns going to the pro shop at 7am on Fridays

Not true anymore.

This has never happened to me or anyone I know. The course is way different than what it was the last 3-4 years. It’s in great shape right now and continues to get better. If you remember what 11 and 13 were like, you’d appreciate what they are now.
