Anyone on here played it and is it worth going?
I was just invited to play it February 14th and 15th plus the Valley Course on the 16th.
Guy that invited me said it was the last weekend to play before The Player's.
Insight appreciated

This feels like less of a question and more of a humble brag

Like asking if you should play Augusta, given the chance...

Home of the most iconic par 3 on Earth. Playing the 17th is bucket list stuff for most golfers.

I played it a few years ago after the tournament and the grand stands were still up. It is really a fun track and sort of weird while you are playing it b/c I would remember some of the iconic shots ppl hit on each hole.
Also, Dye's Valley is harder, just an fyi

definitely not a subtle brag, just curious if the $450 price tag is worth just that. Some courses are great because of the conditioning and some are because of the layout or history. I am also just a 6 handicap so don't want a course that is just too brutal to play for my skillset all the while paying a crap ton of money for it.

This may not be a popular opinion but I don’t think it’s worth the $450 price tag. I didn’t find it particularly memorable aside from the finishing holes (went birdie, par, par) to close. 17 was really memorable because I watched some hack put +10 balls in the water trying to hit the green. He graciously let us play through after the 6th we watched him dunk, and he put at least four more in while we were teeing off on 18.

Absolutely, is it worth it!
You won’t play it under tournament conditions, but every time you watch the tournament, you will have a players perspective of the shot being played...

No

You pay for the brand and to play where the Pros play. Several average holes scattered on front and back. Last 4 are memorable and worth playing it once.
Locals swear by the valley being just as nice without the island green. Didn't have a chance to play it.

Toots I’d pay it once. It’s one of those golf buddy stories you can keep in your hat. Just like Pebble. But that’s just me.

I suppose like all things...worth it depends on the price
I have played 6...7 times (perk of volunteering and having friends that have ....friends)
The back 9 is much more challenging to me than the front. 16. 17. 18 get all the pub but really 11 through 14 are all good holes. What makes TPC tough is having to be on point with distance control. Several yds off and you have a chip shot that will give you a double in a hurry ...practice a lot distance putting chipping. It also is beneficial to know how far you can carry your driver so you dont try to cut off too much and end up in waste bunkers
#8 par 3 (for me) is a par 4....I hate that d+:m hole
If you want to see just how good Tiger is....when you get to 16 stand on right center of the fairway at 190 out and picture the flag being 6..7.paces on the front..right...and think he took a 6 iron ...with the wind from the right...and stiffed it between the flag and water. Ive seen that flag position
And it looks like here is no where to land it
Dyes Valley ..played it once. Its tough but much tougher for first timers that don't know about the direction to hit. Hit several drives that i thought were fine...only to find that water tucked on behind a mound (hidden)

Yes have played many times mainly for charity events. Have a house on the country club side.

Played it years ago just before they built the new clubhouse. It was a Christmas present, so I didn't pay. It was a great experience that I still think about often. (I birdied 17, so that made it extra-memorable.) I highly recommend it just for the experience.
