I’ve been to top golf twice. Once for a bachelor party and another time just on a weekend with friends.

Both times somehow I missed the bill of how much it cost but I just looked up how much it would be to rent a bay for me and the wife (no pics) to do. She’s getting into golf so figured it’d be a fun way to play a little in a more casual and fun way.

I admit, top golf is fun and the food is surprisingly good for what you’d expect but holy crap one bay was going to cost like $140+ for 2 hours on a Friday night or even during the day on the weekend. That’s not including food and drinks which are also pricy. Then on top of that there’s a $25 book fee to “hold your spot” as if the price for the actual bay doesn’t do that?

I guess people pay it because I’ve never seen an empty Top Golf when I drive by but god damn it feels so overpriced. I think the only time I’ll go back myself is if it’s for a party or larger event. Just way too much for a casual weekend activity for 2 people.

ETA: not sure why this got moved to the golf board. Was coming at it more from the perspective of shite is expensive rather than being golf specific.

That’s not what it is designed for. Corporate events or medium sized groups are what they cater to. It’s a bowling alley for golf and 4-8 people is the sweet spot for one bay.

I got paired up playing golf with an older guy one time. He was a cool old dude. He told me that he needed to find a new hobby because his wife wanted to start playing golf and he didn’t want to have to play with her. He said the 4 or 5 hours on the golf course was his chill time not having to put up with his wife’s bullshite. Old people tell it like it is

Two people in a bay for two hours is a lot of swings. Especially for someone just getting into golf.

Swinging a golf club non stop for 2 hours? Thats a waste of money and not good for your body

Whatever happened to hitting a bucket/basket of balls for $7?

Guys that bring their wives or small children with them to a golf course are weird

I bring my wife to ride with me for a round about 3 times a year. A buddy of mine brings his wife frequently, cool for them, but she & my wife are good friends and she bought clubs and was trying to talk my wife into getting into golf also. I told my wife "if you want to play golf then you can have my clubs, I quit" lol.
She's got her Target, Costco, Home Goods, & TJ Maxx outings often, and I have my golf. Stay in your lane woman lol

I’ve only been a couple of times for group work events. Never understood the allure esp if you’re an actual golfer.

That's the way I look at it when I get out there. It's time away from the family noise, be a man and hang out with the baws.
