I want to like the guy but find him extremely off putting. Can't really put my finger on it but for some reason I am really starting to dislike the guy. He did an extended interview on camera yesterday and he came off like a douche.

He plays up this "I'll say what I want to and I don't give a F what anyone thinks" attitude but I think he comes off as a jerk. Probably has something to do with his comments about Morgan Hoffman.

Today will be interesting. He has plenty of tournaments where he goes low on Friday or Saturday but can't put together a good round on Sunday.

The comments about Hoffmann were odd. I understand he wants to-win and beat everyone but the “that’s his battle” comment was cold. He could have just said I’m glad he’s well enough to be back and been done.

Varner is awesome and one the most well liked players on tour. In full context his comments were ok.

While I didn't care for his comments about Morgan's battle, he's shown that he can be a good dude and genuine. I believe it was the WGC-Mexico? where he invited a young teen who he had been playing Call of Duty with to come to the course and hang out with him.

Plus his topped 3 wood at Riviera a few years ago shows he's one of us lol

I don’t really see the big deal, he’s at work, when you are at work do you worry about what your competitor or co worker is going through away from work? They are looking for a story and Varner seems to be a good dude from everything I have read, good player as well who hasn’t closed the deal yet but will eventually.

He was on the podcast “fore the people” and was funny as hell. He told a story about how he forgot to text MJ back.

One of the most likeable guys on tour. Know some people who play in pro ams and they all said same thing. Really down to earth. Really fun. His answer to Hoffman is what pretty much every other professional thinks but is scared to say. Nobody cares. He’s worked on mental game a ton for this spot with Harmon. Hopefully he can get it done.

So you want him to be a robot and say what everyone else “should” say? Or would you rather him be genuine?

Dang, I thought his interview was great. He was very complementary about other golfers, wasn't all full of himself and was really likeable. Seems to always have a smile when on the course.

His swing seems extremely simple, probably a good model to copy.

Hardly any moving parts.

Like Harold and hopefully he gets a win today.

As far as his comments, maybe he got the camera red dot fever and he overloaded himself, who knows.

Can't stand his shoes. But love his compact swing.

They asked him what his thoughts on Hoffman was. He pretty much said everyone goes through things that people are unaware of. He doesn’t care about what he’s going through. Just wants to focus on his game.

He actually grows on me more and more. He seems to really enjoy what he is doing and has a lot of gratitude. Someone said during an interview yesterday they hoped he has a great Sunday. He said, “it is going to be great no matter what the score. That may not be the way some will see it, but it is already great.”

I started liking him more at Sawgrasss after he dumped it in the water with the lead early in the week and just kept coming back.

If Claude is willing to come out of retirement for the guy there must be something to him. It’s not raw natural talent, so Claude is willing to do it for some other reason.

Varner was asked if he saw anything different in his game, as well.

He replied: "I did not, but I'm not a very aware person, never have been. I'm out there to beat Morgan.

"I don't really care -- I get that he's been through a lot, but everyone on this planet's going to go through something, and that's his battle.

"My battle may come down the road later.

"When you're on the golf course, it's time to compete. I want to win. I don't know. That's kind of messed up, but it is what it is."

I like him. He seems like a good dude who enjoys golf and life. Probably isn't someone who can nail it on camera all the time, which isn't a big deal. I bet he'd be fun to play a round with while pounding beers.
