Thanks man. The guy that books our tee times said greens were hard and bumpy with a few having bad spots and the tee boxes looked like markers hadn’t been moved in awhile. We have two openings at noon Friday if you want in $10/pp scats game. 10 playing as of now.

As a member since it reopened Im happy with the conditions all things considering. Its the winter and we have had two hard freezes in the past 2 months. The bare patches are there but its on maybe 1/3 of the holes and the super does a good job of keeping the pin away from those areas. The Poa is limited comparatively to past years. Fairways are in very good shape, The Rough is consistent and a true bermuda not just Weeds. The bunkers are ever improving.

Burky and Robbie are doing a great job with plans to keep improving

It's obvious you haven't played the Island in a while. the Island had a major irrigation failure late summer and lost most of the greens. They made huge improvements since most greens died but ran out of time when winter hit to continue growing them back in and then the worst winter in yrs hit with snow. No one in America can grow grass in that situation. Before bashing a course, how about ask some questions. Comparing the Island to Webb is a joke. it's not even close if you take the entire course into consideration. If you want to complain about price, that's fine but don't bash a place not knowing what's behind the curtain. I can promise those guys are doing everything possible within their control to make the course nice for everyone.

What is SM? $50? I heard they are close to 50,000 rounds, which is absurd! But that’s 2.5 million. Plus whatever is allocated through tax money (let’s be conservative and say $750,000) That’s 3.25 million in money. Why? Obviously, it’s not going back to THIS course. Why do you need 50K rounds? BC and Webb and City and Clark aren’t far behind for rounds. So the big question is where is the money going?

Payroll. Maintenance equipment. Chemicals skyrocketed. Carts are close to 100k per year per course.

It hasn’t gone up that much.
With Brec’s golf payroll (very low) and how long they hold on to machinery (a long time), there’s no way you can convince me that the allotted tax money and revenue generated is going solely back to the course that created it.
No way.

I agree with that bro, I know some people out at the island and I heard them talk about the issue with the irrigation in the summer, greens were cooked when that happened as I played that week.
Course isn’t in bad shape at all right now, I play at damn near every course in BR, and the island is the second closest to Carter and UClub. Sure you have those bare spots on like 4-5 of the 18 holes but it isn’t bad.

Also complaint about the price… $70 for a weekend round… bro pay $25 at Webb and sit behind morons who are drunk and banging balls every where while you putt on essentially rocks. $70 is a steal for a weekend round nowadays. Or just stop complaining about courses and join up
Somewhere worth the money.

The island always has my vote, great staff, great pace of play, and always have available tee times. Not to mention the track is fun

This winter is gonna end up being one of the mildest winters Louisiana has ever had. Getting snow doesn’t make it one of the worst winters in years. And plenty of courses in south Louisiana got the same snow and their conditions aren’t suffering. But hey, I hope the guys that run the course see this and give you a pat on the back
