I agree with you. Scottie doesn't move the needle. He's uncomfortable in the spotlight. Tiger moved the needle. Tiger made you "feel" something. Think about Nicklaus and Palmer. Everyone loved Palmer. He made you "feel" something. LeBron is great. MJ made you "feel" something.
I honestly don't know what this means.

I agree with the tiger jack comparisons but this one is comically bad lmao.
LeBron was hyped as "the chosen one" and had a whole TV special to announce his free agency decision. Before we won a title there was an army of haters calling him LeClang & LeBronze

I think it far more has to do with the games current lack of rivalries than anything else, and this isn't unique to golf. Everyone is so buddy/buddy now that it takes away some gravity in the competition, at least from the spectator perspective. It doesn't help when you have the champions talking about how little they care about tournaments and things that aren't the majors.
Part of the reason NBA and NFL feel a little lacking in any soul now too (among other reasons). There is rarely any sense of rivalry, it just feels stale and corporate.
The golf being played is phenomenal and incredibly entertaining, don't get me wrong, but sports are more fun with rivalries.

For me, the real elephant in the room is will he just up and quit once his wife has another kid and Bennett gets too old to be traveling around with them?
I could see him winning the career grand slam and just saying screw it I'll go design golf courses and spend time with my family in our house every day.
