Oof. I think we have the answer about how long it would take the shine to wear off.

I didn't know it came on earlier in week 3. I was waiting for its usual time. The only reason I knew was because my brother sent me a text. That may have something to do with it. I think Tiger is going up against Rory next week. That should get good ratings. If not, then it may be the beginning of the end.

Good idea, wrong participants.

These guys for the most part are just not good at being entertaining playing golf. The entertainment value is in their skill and handling pressure.

This concept I think will work with the right people. You need more Larry Bird style shite talking the opponents, or humor, preferably both.

I’d play worse golf than all of them, but I guarantee I’d be more fun to watch. “You folks over there need to watch out, I have been known to hit one sideways”

“But they’re behind you”

“I warned ‘em”

It was earlier in week 2 as well, but Tiger was on to negate that. I have no idea how these ratings work. There's no way I am going to be able to watch an event that doesn't involve me teams live with 3 kids in the house. I've been watching these from 9 on the last few weeks. It's nice that I can fast forward whenever I see Marty Smith is about to talk.

What is the average viewership for espn programming for a mid January Tuesday night. That’s the real question. I suspect almost 700k is still over that number.

I honestly wonder if pairing a pro with a youtube star each week and going 2v2 may be a path to something unique the fans may want to watch and maybe have some sort of cash prize as the end for the youtuber. I just don't see long-term success watching pros play simulator golf against each other. That novelty is going to have a short shelf-life. And I don't think having better tour personalities is going to make it better. Imagine watching something like the NFL skills competition every week. No one takes it seriously so it's just not interesting to a viewer.

All that aside, the technology and concept is way more interesting than watching the product.

It is like it's trying to compete with YouTube and I don't have a reason to stop watching a few of those guys. I didn't watch week 3. Does it stream anywhere?

Yea honestly I can't bring myself to sit down and watching this unless it's Tiger and maybe 1 or 2 other guys. I find it easier to watch actual golf.

Then again, I'm probably not the targeted viewer.

Stay tuned because that is exactly what Grant Horvat and Phil Mickelson are doing. Should be soon, like a week or so, if what Phil said in his video is accurate.

I’m aware. What I was referring to above was kinda of like a cross between that and Big Break or something along those lines. Grant/phil are just going to be paired up and playing another two man team every video. What I’m talking about would be some sort of competition with a winner at the end. Just think it’s be cool to bring YouTube golf to network television and may be worthwhile

Outside of the Bryan Bros, grant, and a few others I can’t tolerate much YouTube golf. I would hope they’re very selective if that’s a route TGL does go.

I’m actually surprised LIV hasn’t made Wesley a good offer to play over there. He’s not playing much major golf anyway, he would bring more of the demo LIV is targeting, and he could spend a lot more time focusing on content vs grinding on the tour.

He wouldn’t do it. He’s not going to want to spend that much time overseas. You can tell Wesley enjoys the YouTube stuff way more than being a tour pro. Gets to set his own schedule and spend way more time with his family

Bryan Bros and Grant is about all I watch as well. I just don't get it with Good Good. Some others are ok.

I mean do you want me to be here?

Their viewership numbers are still dwarfing LIVs And that’s not even counting the ESPN App…… THE APP!!!

You can start another thread about it if you want, but you’ve always just been focused on US viewing numbers. I never said it’s “THE APP!!”

Here’s one example of those “other”viewership numbers you always ignore

quote:

LIV Golf Adelaide 2024 saw a groundbreaking tournament unfold on the Seven Network with the league's first-ever team playoff between the all-Australian Ripper GC and the all-South African Stinger GC.

More than 2.7 million viewers tuned in to Seven and 7plus across the three days to watch the action as the home team reigned supreme for a sensational win on Sunday.

I’ll say what I always said

LIV shouldn’t play in America. Nobody cares here. And that’s not an opinion. Pro golf barely had roughly following here for one tour to be popular much less two
