With the continuous rainfall we have been receiving the golf course is almost too wet to keep open. In an effort to still allow play to the members and guests we felt like changing the course set up to par 3's will minimize the foot traffic and divots taken on the fairways.

IT IS REQUIRED that anyone playing while the golf course is setup as a Par 3 course, to play it as a Par 3. This will keep the pace of play consistent and as mentioned, will minimize divots and footprints in the fairways.

We will be in contact with everyone and let you know when the golf course is once again able to be played back at normal length.

We also continue to remind all players to KEEP CARTS ON PATH and when going around other carts, USE EXTREME CAUTION. This is the wettest we have seen Greystone and want to make sure it is ready to go in the Spring for our upcoming golf season.

As far as the Hole In One Club, any hole in ones made will only pay on the actual Par 3's.

Thanks for your assistance in this difficult time.

Sincerely,

GREYSTONE MANAGEMENT
Honestly, I think this is a great idea. It's not the quickest drying course out there already, and this wet weather of the last 8 weeks has been rough. Pretty solid approach to keep things fun and fresh instead of having to tread through the muck constantly and even damaging the course. Should at least make 18 easier.

You don't use your driver out there so is it much of a difference.

It's an idea, if nothing else.

I can't imagine there has been THAT much play, to where they're concerned about divots being spread out through the fairways.

I'd rather have that than a few concentrated areas of heavy traffic, golf shots and foot.

at least they're being proactive. If I was a member I'd just want to shut it down right now and protect it for spring

You’d be surprised. Many members play daily rain, shine or snow. But the issue is the divots and foot traffic that don’t get a chance to heal in this weather over an extended period.

It’s a compromise for members who still feel like they need to play to get their money’s worth. So rather than a total shutdown, this allows for play with minimal damage. The “feral will be just off the cart path and moved often. I heard maybe even daily.

Unless Greystone overseeds wall to wall, the divots and foot traffic won't heal until ground temps warm up anyways.

I get it, it's something.

This is good stuff. Played on Monday in Lafayette and was making huge indentions with just my foot. This allows the die hard something to do but keeps the course in reasonable shape.

This is the worst string of weather I can remember in the last few years.

This always makes me think the course should be closed. If walking on the course causes stress, they should just close it

CCL is redoing the cart paths on the back 9 right now so it’s closed. The front 9 is setup as a par 3 course as well
