All weight on left foot/leg for righties during chip
He hates wedges for chipping .. 7-8-9 iron
Only problem I have with that is many courses I play have elevated greens and I need the loft

As someone already said, if you put weight on your heels you will not do the dreaded “pitch out “

Been there, done that. Forget the lessons. You just need a slight recalibration. You're likely using too much of an arms out towards the ball feel.

You will need to adjust your clubface awareness ASAP or this will creep into other shots, trust me. This is really an easy fix and you should be able to get back on track in one or two practice sessions.

1. Buy foot powder spray and lightly coat your clubface.

2. Place a tee toe side of the ball.(inch from clubhead toe)

3. Avoid the tee and start making toe side ball marks in order to find the other extreme.

You will slowly figure it out and become more mentally focused on your clubface again. Your body will eventually take care of the rest once your clubface awareness is calibrated correctly and you will be hitting dead center again.

*You can try keeping your right elbow pressed against your right side during the chips to start. Or use Justin Rose's shirt under the left armpit trick. One of these will help with the proper feel.

Good advice, this brings the clubs "bounce" back into play. Hope he practices this.

You could take Lee Trevino’s advice on how to enjoy golf more —- take two weeks off then quit.

Or, you could watch the Mickelson video linked above.

It really sounds like this is mental. You expect it to happen so it does. See the shot you want to hit and then take a deep breath and hit it. Quit thinking about the “S” word shots.

Update--took a lesson last week and the shanks are gone. Funny thing is Mickelson says to set the ball up either off your front foot or your back foot but not in between and the first thing the pro did was tell me to move the ball back in between my feet. Had me set up with the ball more on the toe of the club and had me swing holding a drywall rod along with my golf club to keep me from pulling the chip. Rod extended about a foot over the top of the shaft and would poke me in the ribs on the follow through if I made a pull swing.

Went out and played after the lesson and chipped in for a birdie.
