Do not remember my first birdie. That would be 45 years ago. I do remember my first eagle. Was 14 and it was the first time I reached a par 5 in two. Sank the putt.

Best golf feeling ever is the day you first shoot a round in the 70’s. To me, that is a much more thrilling achievement than any birdie or eagle.

My very first golf hole. City Park Baton Rouge. I had been to driving ranges a few times and could hit a iron off a tee fairly well. Teed up on that short par three first and somehow hit to 2 feet away. Tapped in for birdie. I was thinking this golf thing isn’t so hard.
Took a few years to get number two.

First birdie was in a scramble. I had never played golf before. Way downhill par 3 and I chunked one but ping ponged it off the rocks and ended up rolling down within 2ft. Group let me tap it in for the bird.

Couple buddies and I would do two man scrambles every once in a while to keep it interesting. We were at the Island, and on 12 I made a solo Eagle, Followed that up with a Birdie, Par, Birdie, Birdie, all solo. Was feeling real good about how I was playing at that pointbut Ive never been able to put something close to that together again.

12 yrs old at Alexandria Golf & Country club on a Par 3. Tee shot went in the sand. I bladed the shite out of the bunker shot, but it hit the lip, popped straight up and rolled in at the perfect speed. Threw my club in the air and shouted like an idiot. My 1st ever birdie was also my luckiest ever birdie.
I miss that course so much. All of my early golf memories are from there.

Mine was #10 at Shenandoah. It wasn't a long hole around 350 yards. I was 11 so it took driver and 3 wood to get to the green. Don't remember how long the putt was but I wanted to run home right then and tell my parents.

tempted to chase after a month old thread where the guy wants to purge his game of "out of the blue 7's".
this thread should clear up that notion. between this jgoodw post and the guy who made two eagles on bad hits.

I think I am the guilty part on this.
I now just look at it as a bad shot, bad result, bad break, and just play the next hole.

Number 3
Forsythe Park in Monroe
About 13 years old 1986
You could drive the green about 230 away but a big tree was right in front of the green. Drove it pin high. Eagle Putt within a foot. Tap in bird. Very anti-climactic. I’ve had bogeys that felt better.
Haven’t had many birdies since.

my parents taught me golf.
my dad would say loud enough that it was emphasized , "Lucky Pierre!" after a shot like that. no idea where he got it from. half the first birdie stories in this thread involved Lucky Pierre.
