I think a lot of the answers in this thread are dishonest, or more likely when these guys are having a bad round they stop keeping score and start playing a “practice round”

I think it all depends on your game, if your short game is your weak point as a single digit handicap, its going to be harder to have a blow up round compared to the guy who sucks off the tee and its going OB. Thats how you get to 100+. Even if you are 3 jacking every putt on the course but getting in there in regulation half the time, you'll shoot 99.

I mean I'm a 16 handicap and even when I have a really, really bad round I'm looking at 103 max.

At the end of the day, we don’t know what the course rating, slope or ability of any of us anonymous posters are.

I post all rounds in GHIN and my only rounds below 80 are usually on short tracts with a hot putter.

I’m amazed at how many ways there are to have the same handicap index.

Some guys are just lucky as far as timing their best round ever at member guest and somehow follow it up with even better play the second day.

I wish I could dial up back to back rounds where my differentials are the lowest of my last 20; especially during an event. I must need to work harder on playing well at the right time.

3 years ago in a state am qualifier. Course never worked for my eye, add lots of OB, wind and a bad driving spell.

Finished last while carrying a 5.
