I've heard the same thing and they are tight wads who don't want to invest in the course, surprised Stonebridge hasn't completely fell apart yet.

Last year when I was a member of Stonebridge I went out there on a Monday evening (course is closed on Monday for maintenance) to just putt around on the practice green. I would sometimes go out there before dark and just do some putting and chipping and that Monday I forgot they were closed, but I drove out there so I just decided to putt around anyway. It also happened to be a day where they didn't do any maintenance on the course, go figure

Well as I'm leaving a lady comes RUNING over from the tennis courst and just starts bitching at me about what am I doing on the course and that I'm just sneaking on and trying to play for free. Gets her phone out and starts recording me asking me for my name. I just tell the dumb bitch I'm a member, I just forgot they were closed on Mondays, and showed her the Stonebridge membership sticker on my truck. The lady still didn't believe me and kept recording me and took my license plate number.

I told her you know what you psycho, my membership is up for renewal in a month or two and you couldn't pay me to play out here again. Told her she lost a member and that the tournament I throw every year that brings in thousands of bucks too will never be held out there again. I meant it, I started pricing other courses the next day. That bitch ain't getting anymore money from me. I hope she called David Martinez the next day and asked about me and he just told her yea, who cares, he's a member that was just practicing on the putting green, no big deal.

I get mad thinking about it

What time of day were you planning on playing? I know on Monday afternoons at Querbes, there’s a pretty good group that has a game if you’re interested in that kind of thing. It can be kind of busy in the mornings at both Querbes and Huntington, so If you plan on playing either one of those in the morning time, you may want to call either place to reserve a tee time.

Good for him. I'd debate going out there if they got rid of the ridiculous initiation fee. Annnnnnnd just checked and their monthly rates went up too. 5k initiation and $834 a month Southern Trace has always been overrated and now it's officially the most overrated course in the state. Wtf. Since East Ridge is losing members I'm sure Southern Trace jacked up prices because they knew they'd get the members.

not saying it's worth it, but that's a pretty low initiation fee for a club. ERCC lost some members due to greens condition. That will reverse next year with significant remodel that begins this winter.

Yea the initiation fee actually isn't too bad. But that monthly note is kind of insane. Squire Creek is only $565 a month. So $300 more a month for a course that isn't even close to Squire. Granted the initiation fee bumps up to 15k.

I want to join there so bad. I'd do it if the non resident initiation fee wasn't 7.5K. Monthly note for non resident is only $350. Just can't justify that much of an initiation fee. I doubt they will seeing as there's a waiting list, but if they ever bump that down a few grand I would sign up asap.

I play in a small tournament at Squire every year. It is such a fun course and a great deal on dues for non resident. I know a couple folks who do that. I couldn't justify it unless I was playing it a couple times a month at least, which would be hard for me to do.

Yep, sadly been closed since early 2010s. Nothing but a patch of weeds now, I grew up as a club rat out there and spent many a summer marching around that course in the ridiculous heat. I quit playing golf as a kid for a while, just had too many other sports I was playing at the time. I would give anything to play that course now as someone that takes the game somewhat seriously again.

Just played Querbes two weeks ago when I was in town visiting some friends. Greens were good for the most part, save for a few random spots that were just pure sand. Save for 1 or 2 long narrow par 5s its not a super challenging course.

Yeah thats a super low initiation fee. The monthly dues seem a little steep though. Does that include a dining minimum?

That I'm not sure. I'm pretty sure they have a minimum and I don't think that is with a cart. I'm sure you'd be at 1k a month.

I guess I just fortunate to get my initiation fee for $375 and monthly dues are $250. Just looked up my club and the normal initiation fee for residents is like 10-15k with $500 + fees. A handful of people I didn't know were joining the same time I was and the GM said he'd throw me in with that group so I got it cheap.

My son works in the cart barn at Trace, he gets to play and practice for free which is why he chose to work out there, i get to play once a week on Sunday afternoon with him for free, good deal for me.
Initiation fee: $5000
Monthly due: $734
Capital improvement fee: $100
Cart Plan: $100
Range fee: $68.75 quarterly
GHIN fee: $40 a year

There used to be a quarterly food and beverage fee but that is no longer the case.

Close to $1000 bill a month after the 5 grand, it's not worth it. Golf in Shreveport/Bossier is too expensive. It costs me over $100 to play Huntington or Querbes, muni courses, on the weekend with my son and it's $75 a round at Stonebridge on the weekends.

Yea, no way. New greens are fantastic but I'm sorry, the layout is extremely basic, borderline boring.

There is literally no where in town that is a "good deal" for golf. I think Stonebridge jumped to $80+ tax now and it's in worse shape than it was a year ago.

I haven't been out to Huntington this year but I would imagine it's probably the best bang for your buck as far as quality vs price goes. It's always been consistent.

Played Crooked Hollow out in Greenwood a month or two ago and it was awful. Somehow, and I didn't know it was possible, but the fairways have gotten even harder/dry.

You can say that again, Northwood is about the best for its value but its way overcrowded on the weekends.

Crooked Hollow is dry, but green fees are reasonable and the greens are in decent shape. I don't mind the dryness. I get 30 more yards of roll on my drives. It also drains better than any other area course when we have alot of rain.

I need to go play Northwood. It's been over a year since I've been there. That back nine is a blast. Really fun layout.

Played in a tournament our at Southern Trace yesterday. It's in great shape and the greens are silky smooth. Not worth $1,000 a month though

Talked to Reed a bit and he said they basically made him an offer he couldn't refuse. Kind of hated to leave Olde Oaks because of the progress they were making but couldn't turn down the extra money with less responsibilities.

Have you played ST since it was renovated? One of the best in the state now imo.

Actually played in a tournament there last Monday. Greens are almost perfect. Very fast and rolled extremely true.

They definitely did a good job with the renovation and it's for sure a nice course. To me, the layout is pretty bland though. There's a lot of money in Shreveport/Bossier and they're obviously getting people to pay 1k a month, but it ain't worth that. They just know they are the best in town so they can get away with it.

I hadn't been to Querbes since they opened back up after having to redo their renovated greens, so I went after work last week and was going to play nine. It was pretty busy so I just hit on the range and practice green. If the greens on the course are equal to the practice green, I'd be pretty impressed. Those would be the smoothest greens I'd have ever seen out there and I've been playing there for 20+ years.
