Flying to play some golf in May and not wanting to take the clubs with me to the airport. What service do y’all use?

I deal with this a lot at my course. If you are only going to play one round you might be better off getting a quality rental set. If you are going to play multiple rounds then you want to bring your clubs with you and pay the airlines, unless you have a Delta (bag flies free) card. If you know a good place to ship your clubs you can ship them - I have done this a couple times going to relatives.

I have used Ship Sticks twice when I headed out to Bandon. Definitely a price to it, but it was nice to have the clubs waiting for me at the course. From Orlando, you change planes twice, so it was great piece of mind. Price vs Convenience.
From Orlando to Bandon Dunes, $165 for Next Day, $75 for 6 day (each way).

What is the insurance policy on clubs on a plane? Does anyone take the head off a screw on driver for flight?

I've flown with mine several times and it's been fine. Just buy a good travel bag. I do have iron covers that I pit on when I fly with them to prevent bag chatter, but between that and head covers it's fine.

I've heard people do this, but I haven't. I throw a beach towel or two at the top of the bag and weave it between the irons to prevent them from banging against each other.

I also store my shoes in the travel bag, as well.

As long as you have a case and the case has wheels, traveling with them isn't an issue.

Pro tip: they don't come out on the conveyor belt. They are typically placed off to the side somewhere.

You can ship the clubs to the destination in your travel bag and then check them with the airlines on the way home. Obviously if you're dishing out a good chunk of money for a golf trip then shipping is worth it to ensure your clubs are there on time. On the way home, you may not care if your clubs are a day behind so you can save a little money by checking them on your flight. I've had clubs get bumped to a later flight many times - but never lost outright by an airline.

Fedex sells a golf bag box. I slide my clubs in and ship it ground. Probably $60 for box and shipment.

Shipsticks is a little pricey but they have never screwed it up. My Clubs beat my luggage last time I played in Tahoe. I pack my shoes, jackets, vest, and a change of clothes in my golf bag as insurance now.

Just get a club glove travel bag, and a club glove stiff arm. You'll have no issues.

And don't put a TSA lock on your bag, TSA will just cut it off.
