I’ll start by saying like many beginners I fought a slice and after years of aiming slightly left I ended up with a playable fade. At some point I started watching golf videos and learning about releasing the club and starting to feel that and occasionally I’d try that and then one day I hit a few draws.
Well, following that ruined my fade.
I’m looking for feels on release for a fade. Would you release it later than with w draw?
Are there videos on release?
And am I over thinking it?!

I did tee it up high the other day and it made me hit these big rad draws but honestly miss my repeatable fade.

There’s a lot of different ways guys shape it, but for a “fade release”, you should feel like you’re holding the face off

Off the tee I hit exclusively fades with my driver. If I aim left and it goes straight no problem. It's set to be an anti-left machine. If a hole absolutely needs a draw then I'll hit three wood or mini driver. Sort of what decade golf teaches.

But I will say I still absolutely release the shite out of the club when hitting a power fade. My setup is what causes the fade.

Feel like you don’t release it. In actuality you will, of course. But you need to feel like the toe of the club never overtakes the heel.

Maybe grip it a little tighter in your left hand.

I wouldn't try to time the release, it's not something you'll should really actively be thinking about during the swing. Your swing path was already determined way before it's time to release, at that point you'd mostly just be manipulating the clubface with your wrists which is impossible to time correctly with any consistency.

I’d say you are overthinking it. I can hit draw or fade on command, simple by altering the swing path. Slightly more vertical, fade. Flatter, draw.

It’s best to have a stock shot you’re most comfortable with, mine is a draw but sometimes you just have to hit the shot the hole requires.

This is how it should be done. Hold off fades shouldn’t be used as a stock shot.

Also, anyone over scratch trying to work the ball both ways is wasting time.

I use to try and do all that. I took lessons a few months ago. Setup for the hit you want. Face always aims at the target and aim your feet. Take away is the same. Open stance with face at the target keeps the face slightly open and vice versa. Way easier than trying to manipulate it in your swing. Grip changes a little depending on what you want to do. For a fade a weaker grip, draw a little stronger.

Side note how in the world do you hit a power fade? I have been trying to learn this. If I hit a fade it’s fairly high with over 3000 spin. My draw is a bullet spinning at 2000. I for the life of me can not figure out how people are hitting fades that goes as far as draws and have low spin. I have tried everything.

I hit more of a push fade but I'll pick a target where I want the ball to start and aligned the club. I'll line up my feet and body slightly more open. I'm still swinging in to out and releasing the club.

Tee the ball down, stand a little closer, open up front shoulder.

Back to this for a second, does DJ not release the club?
Is there something different going on there with the wrist hinge thing he does?

"When you're playing this shot......the most important thing you have to do, especially playing the fade.....the most important thing that can happen is you make sure you fade it."

Why didn't I think of that??!!!!
