Me and a buddy are looking to play a round in the BR area on Friday while the wives humiliate the boys decorating their furnished cottage off Ben Hurr.

Only courses I’ve played in that general area are Pelican Point (earliest time is too late for us) and Graystone (I love the track, friend didn’t like all the water).

So which courses would you recommend to a BR first timer?

If you can get on U Club, do it. It’s in great shape

UClub, CCL, or BRCC if you know a member that can get you on.
Avoid Santa Maria right now because the greens were recently punched and are covered in sand.
Always avoid Webb Park. It's in shitty conditions and the course is always packed with hackers. Same with J.S. Clark.
Copper Mill recently punched greens but I'm not sure how they look.
Beaver Creek is probably your best option right now.

How’s the island holding up with this drought?

Thanks for that. Unfortunately so not know any members at any of those.

Looks like Beaver Creek since you said that about Santa Maria. Again thanks for all of that.

The island or beaver are the current only options. I played beaver This past Saturday and the greens are still kinda bumpy. Played webb today, and the fairways are fine and the greens are filled in but I’d rate them 6/10. A little more of a drive but Greystone is in pretty decent shape right now.

Greens at BC are in pretty bad shape. Alot of dirt on the edges, and nobody apparently fixes pitch marks anymore.
Copper has their club championship sat and sun.
JS Clark probably best option or Fennwood Hills.

Island is also a great option and easy to get an early tee time. However, getting back across the bridge on a Friday afternoon to Ben Hur is a terrible idea.

I played Beaver Creek two times in the last week and you are correct about the greens. They are placing pins in the good area and they still roll good. I told the Marshall that he should give me a free round after all the pitch marks by buddy and I repaired. I know the greens are not in the best of shape but they are not going to get better if you don't repair them.
I would go to the Island but like said that finng bridge.

Punched their greens this week.

I'd go with The Island. They aren't punching until the 26th.

My back and hamstrings are killing me from bending over to fix them. I did at least 5 a hole.
