Recommend Me a New Set of Irons & Driver

I'm relatively new to golf, but have been playing at least once a week for the last 3 or 4 months. Love the game. I was given an old set of irons and a putter, and bought a cheap callaway driver to start out. I've added a 60°, 56°. and 52° wedge along the way also.
I'm looking to spend no more than $1,500 or so for a new driver, iron set (either 3-PW or 3H, 4H, 5-PW), and golf bag. I need something somewhat forgiving. I usually score anywhere from 86-95.
What do you GB pros recommend?...
TIA

Taylormade M2 Driver (get 2016 model to save $$$)
Titleist AP1 Irons (get fitted)

Any driver you want. They are relatively the same price and same performance. Try a few out get what you like.
Irons, trust me get fitted. It will cost you more upfront, but the clubs will fit you and you won't need any more for a long time. With that said, at your skill level and amount of time playing I would get Pings or Calloways. They, in general, are a little more forgiving brand of clubs, and can be had for a little cheaper than a brand like Titleist. Also, look at buying something that is last year's model. Something that was made last year compared to this year is not going to affect their performance. I personally wouldn't buy used unless I bought from somebody I knew, but I will buy last year's model new to save a little cheddar.

Just picked up the new Srixon Z565 irons. They hit super long.

That's a very decent budget. Go try out some clubs at the golf store within your budget and get whatever you like/hit best. Check out the used selection or last years model clubs for pretty good deals.

This is the best advice.
You can have great irons that don't fit, and it won't matter. You're toast before you even take the club back.

I got a set of Ping G irons a few months ago. I love them. Great quality iron and very forgiving.
ETA- like everyone else says. Get fitted. What city are you in or around?

The importance of getting fitted cannot be stressed enough. This will help you not only pick out the right irons for you, but also get the right shafts and lie angle on your clubs.

I agree with this, but...
Let's say you're new to golf, like the OP says he is. When I first started playing I didn't want to get fitted and spend a bunch of money. I'm glad I didn't because 6 months later, as I've improved, my swing speed increased and I had a completely different swing. Those irons I would have been fitted for would have no longer fit me. I waited until I got better and had a somewhat repeatable swing before I upgraded. After getting fit it made a huge difference, but if I would have done that in the beginning and spent a bunch of money I would probably still have that set which would be basically useless to me.

I agree. If you are new to golf, spend the money on instruction and not on equipment.
