I have no idea what I’m doing on the green. Has anyone in the Houston area paid for a putting lesson? Specifically talking about proper set-up, stroke, aim point etc.

I could use some help too but I am thinking about getting some putting aid for the home and watching YouTube videos...

I have a Perfect Practice Putting mat that has helped me but I’m sure my mechanics are all messed up. That’s why I can’t get consistent on the course.

Name checks out.

I am great on the practice green but terrible during the round. Lately I have focused more on a shorter slower stroke using just my shoulders and picking a spot 4-8” in front of my ball. It has helped a ton.

2 things helped me, might help you, might not. Everyone is different.

I have a mat, with 2-4-6-8 foot marks. I make 10 in a row at each starting at 2 feet before moving back. I don’t miss very many 3-4 footers anymore.

I found while practicing if I move my head slightly to the right at address (I’m right handed) it helped keep me from pushing putts because I’d come up out of it before the stroke finished.

Craig Kanada in the woodlands I’ve heard is a putting guru. I believe you can schedule a lesson with him even as a non member

Thanks for the info. I’ll look him up.
I wonder if I can get a tee time there after a putting lesson from him

I’m a member and I know Invited recently added something called “unaccompanied guest fee” where anyone off the street can get a tee time without a member (further degrading our value)

So yeah I think you can, it’s $275 at the player from what I’ve heard

He doesn’t have any social media. But I’ll start researching SAM Putt Lab system to see what that’s all about. $275 for a round is out of my price range. I might see if a coworker who is a member of Augusta Pines can get us a member discount at Highland Pines for a round after my lesson.
I appreciate your input.

I’m assuming a member still has to set up the tee time. That’s a feature at a ton of clubs. Bluejack’s unaccompanied guest fee is around $500, but a member has to set it up

Ah ok, that makes it a little better, didn’t realize that.

Had my putting lesson with Craig Kanada using the SAM Lab system. He does know the putting stroke very well and I highly recommend him. I booked an hour lesson but he actually worked with me for around 90 minutes. Being my first lesson, we worked on proper set up and stroke path. The info from the SAM Lab software was very technical and went over my head. However, now I feel like I have a good base knowledge of what I need to practice. He also talked me into buying an Eyeline Golf Mirror and an Alignment Ball Training Aid which is basically a string that you use on the green to make sure your ball is rolling straight. I’ll book another lesson next month to see if my stats/numbers improve.
