If I have a tendency, I will push a short putt.

I tend to play Flow Necks or Center-shafted putters.

A guy at PGA Superstore told me that I should use a double bend heel-shafted putter and that would help with the push.

Anyone has this issue or heard the heel-shaft helps this ?

Just go get a putter fitting and you can see the results with your own eyes. The numbers will tell you exactly what your path is doing. The fitter will place you in the right bend for your stroke.

I did a putter fitting 2 years ago at Club Champion and they put me in a plumbers neck putter.

After 2 rounds of missing everything, that putter resides in the lake on #18 at Greatwood GC.

So you threw your professionally fitted putter in the pond, but now want to take advice from some old retired dude working for $15/hour?

LMAO.

Putt with whatever you're most comfortable and make the most with. How much do you practice strictly putting? I'm probably in the minority, but I'll switch putters just based on the course that I'm playing and how slick their greens are. But I work on putting almost daily

I asked about the theory of heel shafted.

Side note : I haven't experienced the sharpest knife in the drawer at CC either here....

I do the same thing, and my putting is my strongest phase of the game. I use a SC 50 counter balance mallet on slow greens and a Bettinardi on blade on faster greens.

lol into an Edel putter. Torque balanced is the concept. Love my e-4. I never push putts with it. I’ll tug one occasionally with it but that’s usually an alignment error on my part

If you're pushing your putts, you probably have a putter with a lot of toe hang. Do you use a blade? Putters with a lot of toe hang require more face rotation to square up the face at impact, therefore if you have more of a straight-back-straight through stroke, you're going to push a lot of putts with a toe hang putter. Sounds like you need more of a face balanced putter. Most mallet-style putters are more face balanced, most blade style putters are toe hang (but this isn't 100% the case).

2 suggestions-

Move the ball forward at address; or take the putter back a little straighter.

Thank you! I got into an argument on Reddit over this lol. I have a heavy 390g SIK head that I will use on slower greens, and my Bettinardi Carbon Zero for quicker greens

Do you forward press? If so, stop as it tends to open the face.

Or move the ball forward in your stance.

Well, if you were arguing about whether to use a heavier putter on slow greens or fast greens they were generally right. As a general rule, people that switch weights of putters usually use heavier putters on fast greens and lighter putters on slower greens.

No the argument was switching putters in general for consistency sake. And I do the opposite of the general rule for consistency sake in keeping the putting stroke generally the same length for the same length putt, regardless of a fast or slow green.

I'm sure if you were playing better courses 100% of the time, the same putter/consistency would hold true, but that's not the case in the Baton Rouge area lol

Greens are remarkably inconsistent. It usually takes me a while to get used to greens, so I like keeping the same putter, so at least one of the two remains consistent. Putting is unique to everyone, though. General rules are typically just something people read/hear that is done by professionals who are far superior to me, so they shouldn’t apply to me anyway.
