Do you mean inside?
If so I’d agree.
Want the club outside of the hands when it’s level with your waist, otherwise promotes coming over the top.

My "normal" ball flight is a draw (right to left). When I pull it left, I'm "out-of-sync." My shoulders turn before my hips rotate, which produces and over-the-top dead pull.
A deliberate pause at the top of my swing helps slow me down and syncs up. Have to work at it.
Works for me.

I have been sort of doing the same thing on irons. I notice the other day after a few range balls pulled left, that I had accidentally been sort of cheating my club faced more closed at address. Still a work in progress, but it can be a set up issue as well

Yea this is a big problem.
The issue is that you suck
The solution is that you should suck less
If you figure out how to do the second part, that’s the key.

My first response was obviously a joke and I struggle with the same issue
This is interesting and I never thought about it but it makes sense. I have a stiff shaft driver, if I swing a regular flex driver I have a tendency to yank it or hook it because I can’t control the shaft.
I never thought about that happening with irons but it makes a ton of sense, I bet that’s my problem too!

I over power my shafts from time to time and draw it left. Not sure if that's what you're doing or not.

A pull left is typically an over the top move with a closed club face.
I would guess your swing is the same with driver but face is more open

Square to path clubface, closed to target.

Get your hands out in front of the ball at impact

It's a tempo issue for me. When I rush my swing and I'm gripping the club too hard I'll rush the downswing and make this over the top move and pull the ball. Happens with my irons and driver.
