We have a buddy getting married in Lake Charles this weekend and we are looking to play a round the morning of the wedding. Found a few different courses but figured I would pool the board on this one since we've got a few south Louisiana members.

NB4 thanks

Depending on where you are staying, I would make the drive to Kinder and play Koasati Pines at Coushatta.

If you do stay in Lake Charles, I would play Gray Plantation.

If you happen to be staying at one of the casinos and can get a discount, you could play The Golden Nugget.
L'auberge also has Contraband Bayou.
Both are in pretty good shape.

It’s a 10 minutes to Grey plantation from where you are. Skip the casinos and play there. You will not be disappointed

Gray Plantation

Mallard Cove is probably in good shape since the City Championship was last weekend. Not a bad option for a cheap green fee.

Don't forget the Natl. in Westlake. I would do Gray and the Natl. Then Lauberge, skip the Nugget unless you have comps. Then Mallard Cove. Skip Kosati, unless you have comps.

Im guessing you are saying this ONLY bc of the drive from LC. KP is awesome, but I wouldn’t leave LC for it.

Good call on Natl.

I’m guessing Mallard Cove finally got their greens back?

Yea Kosatis nice, but nothing to leave the courses in Lake Chuck for. If Gray is in good shape, better track in my opinion. Kosati tends to bore me for some reason. The Natl is my favorite though when in good shape, then Gray. The 19th hole at the Nugget is the tits though.

Everyone is pretty spot on with Gray. Best bang for your buck but if you decide to play twice I would suggest Contraband but play it on Sunday bc they usually have a special on that day. Golden Nugget is too expensive and not worth it compared to the other 2 imo

I played National Tuesday... did a review in the "Where did you play..." Thread.

Greens were very sandy and spongy feeling. Like putting on carpet.

Mallard's greens were looking pretty decent this past weekend for the City Championship. Still have a few spots but overall in good condition. I am playing there this afternoon.

Gray is a solid option. Probably my first choice.

Don't be hesitant to play Contraband at Lauberge, it's really not a bad place to play. Especially if you're staying close to there (not like Gray is far). That's my second choice.

National at Westlake is an okay option. It's a nice course but I really have never been fond of the layout. I personally don't enjoy playing it.

Mallard is a cheap option that wouldn't be bad, but I would play the others first. I played there the week before the city and the course was in okay shape. Greens had gotten a lot better, still some spots in bad shape but nothing terrible.

Mallard punched and sanded after the City Championship (must have been on Tuesday).

Greens were in pretty good shape yesterday but I hate that fresh sand on a morning round.

And I played like shite again
