New PGA Tour scheduling and Jack

I think this is why any substantiative announcements about the new schedule keep getting delayed. There are just some things you cannot do in the world of golf and last very long and one of them is piss off Nicklaus. It wouldn't surprise me if it came out that Rolopp tried to move the Memorial out of Columbus. Jack basically admitted that the event at PGA National is in trouble.
I wonder if we are looking forward to more delays, then an announcement only having minor tweeks in the schedule with a promise of more changes "in the future" and then 6-12 months after that Rolopp mysteriously "steps down to spend more time with his family"

I doubt Jack's influence is close to what it used to be.
The reason it keeps getting delayed is because they aren't building this thing from scratch. There are so many factors involved. It's like pulling Christmas lights out of the attic. It's going to take a while to untangle all the knots.
If Rolapp allows an 86 year old man to dictate his plans or allows that same man to cause him to quit, I don't think he was cut out for the job in the first place.

Jack wants the tour to still be what it was in 1976 when TV was barely a revenue source and it was more of a traveling road show all based on getting the local community come out. He’s still just upset that Rory skipped the Memorial last year.
It’s a little bit of a grow up Peter Pan/Count Chocula. If the players want $20 million purses 15 times a year (without funding from a sovereign state fund willing to light money on fire) then they’ll need to be open to scheduling solutions that entice tv broadcasters and sponsors.
The tour isn’t going to hamstring itself for the future by kowtowing to Nicklaus who probably only has another 2-3 years alive.

People will downvote but Rolopp seems like an idiot and Monahan was actually good
