One of the things I do not miss living in Orlando.
At least 14 courses within 25 minute radius of my location.
Actually been suggested that the abundance of courses is bad for Central Florida. Too much competition driving prices down and quality / maintenance suffers. This summer, prices have not gone down. The demand is so great, we are not getting our summer price-breaks. Sucks.

Meanwhile, the dearth of courses in NOLA isn't helping the quality.

Atlanta was great for golf, but they are great for anything.

I was just something different. I’ve played nothing but but BR courses since Covid - I was happy to play something different

Look dude, it’s affordable, we can play 12 months out of the year, and you’re an hour and a half from Fallen Oak, Grand Bear, and The Preserve, etc. We don’t have the climate or topography for spectacular golf, but in a 90 mile radius of New Orleans, there’s tons of variety and well conditioned places for under $100. I play in a golf league that plays a different course every single month, and every month, we play on a pretty decent track.

That’s arguable. It seems to have rained a month already this year. Plus, the winters here are worse than most think. We have had some solid winter freezes over the years.

I’m about to go get a walking round in at the north course! Any golf is good golf!

I love Louisiana, LSU alumni, but Louisiana is a dumpster fire golf wise. Baton Rouge is far worse than Nola. There is not a single top 100 course in the state not will there ever be one. Baton Rouge has the worst selection of public golf courses per city of a roughly a million people (metro) in the world! Iraq has better courses! I live in Chicago now and there are more good courses in a 5 mile radius of my house than the entire state of LA.

Dude, I promise you I’ve played golf in every calendar month multiple times for the last 28 consecutive years in South Louisiana. It’s not arguable that we can play 12 months of the year. There are plenty of 60-80 degree days in November-March.

No doubt you can play a round every month. But to pretend we have 12 months of amazing weather and course conditions is laughable.

Orlando is multiple tiers better than New Orleans and/or Baton Rouge for golf. It is not even close.

The only negative about Chicago is that if you truly live in the city, your options aren't great. You have a few city courses that see a ton of traffic, from there you are driving 45-1hr minimum. I lived there for about 5 years and was very close to moving to the suburbs bc playing golf became such a hassle.

ETA NYC was worse tho. Not a great city to be an avid golfer in. A ton of options but all 1-1.5 hrs away

That's the only negative? Not the fact that for 5 months out of the year you can't play golf at all because it's cold af? Great golf courses are worthless when they're covered in snow.
