New driver fitting (timing on buying help)

Have been wanting to get truly fitted for a driver, grandfather offered to pay for it, frick yea. I’ve been told to expect 7-8 hundred for a full fitting? Shaft and club head.
What’s the best time to get a new driver as far as release dates? Are the older models readily available when the new ones come out, and what is the discount on getting the old model. my current driver Was bought in 2012. So definitely time for an upgrade.
Thanks in advance!

All the new stuff came out in Feb so you should have all of the options as far as brand new and a year old.

Why did you pay $700 for a $550 driver?

Should write a miserable yelp review if they didn't wave the fitting fee, assuming you bought the equipment from them.

Usually the fitting is "free" as long as you buy a product. I bought last year's SIM for $399 recently and was able to swing a good number of different club options on the Trackman deal.

Fittings apparently are not free at GolfTec. Very thorough. Worth it for me. Club was regular retail price, $529.99. Didnt want to wait so I found it in stock in Lafayette

All new clubs are out. Past years models are at a discount.
I would definitely recommend a fitting. If you buy off the rack, the chance is high you aren’t going to be hitting it as well and long as you could be.

I’ve been looking at driver shafts lately and am really close to just going to golf tech and paying the $125 to figure out what shaft fits me best and just throw it on my R1. Does anyone here have an Atmos TS Black 6x by any chance?

Lots of places that generate the majority of their revenue from fitting and not full retailers don't waive their fitting fee(Club champion, true spec, etc. )
They will have sales like 50% off

I went through Club Champion based on the board’s recommendation. Solid recommendation by the way, Nick in Metairie is awesome and very patient which I appreciate.
I’ve played golf for 20+ years of my life. During the fitting, we tested a TON of shaft/head combinations. It was amazing to me to see the consistency I was able to get from the specific shaft/head combinations. I HIGHLY recommend going to a proper fitting to drill down on what YOUR specific swing/game needs.

It’s crazy to me that people will freak out over 100 bucks when it’s the cost of a one hour lesson that can make your golf experience soooo much better
