Personally.. I’d go to Academy, Dicks, or whatever and find whatever full set they sell for around $200. If he shows more interest and sticks with the game then invest in a better set

Unless he's strong for his age get him something like US kids clubs. Starting them out with clubs too heavy is a bad idea. Tons of used kids sets on ebay.

If he’s just starting - I actually like the PING Prodi-G the best by far AND - PING actually reshafts and angles one time - so basically it’s getting two sets of clubs for the price of one… their old Junior line was crap - but this is superior - my younger one was one of the first to use them… and they were fantastic and the reshaft was amazing - they redid lie angle and everything - all at no additional cost

LINK

Having two girls that play at an elite level - at 13 and 15 - my strong strong suggestion is the invest heavily in individual lessons with the best coach in the area - weekly preferable but at least bi weekly… that’s the path to success IMHO

US Kids.. all 4 of my kids both boys and girls all started with US Kids clubs..

The Ping Prodi G clubs are very well designed clubs and that free shaft upgrade is hard to beat

100% US KIDS fit by height. When they become a bit more advanced PING Prodi G's are amazing. Include a re-shaft so like getting two sets for the price of one. They are expensive though.

My 13 year old daughter has the Ping Prodi-Gs as well. They are very good junior golfer clubs.

And I concur on the weekly lessons when first starting out. My daughter goes once a week for instruction with the current state PGA club pro champion. And invest in some of the same inexpensive tools they use during lessons so they can hit daily at home into a net with real balls.

Costco runs a deal on an entire set of Callaway clubs IIRC. Rick Shiels (YouTube guy) does a review and thinks it’s a great deal. Not sure if they still offer it though. Might be able to find em on eBay.

Hit up pawn shops as well.

Yes. Search online or hit up some pawn shops to see if you can’t find some Callaway XJs. I found a guy selling a Driver, fairway wood, and three iron set with bag for $100.00. She played with those for the 1st couple of months and once I saw how serious she was about being good at golf, I bought the Pings.
