Ruston Country Club and the Louisiana Tech 9 hole Golf Course are gone. No golf in Ruston, only Squire Creek in Choudrant nearby.

Was a student worker at the Tech golf course from ‘90-‘93. Helped repave the cart path for a few weeks during the summer of ‘90. That was the hottest work I’ve ever done. 100+ degree heat along with the heat from the asphalt was fricken brutal.

$2.00 green fees for students during those years.

Emerald Hills Golf Resort in Many.

Before it was Emerald Hills it was Toro Hills. It never actually closed between Toro and Emerald, but Toro Hills died. And before it was Toro Hills, I think but it was before my time, it may have been Hodges Gardens.

I’ll add Natchitoches Country Club to the list.

Also, I think it closed for a short period of time, The Golf Club at Timber Trails in Pineville. It has reopened as The Reservation.

Finally, I’m not sure of this one, but Meadowlake Golf Club in Kiethville is no longer a golf course, but I think it may be a training facility.

Pine Shadows in L.C. Short fun 18 holes on the east side of Lake Chuck. Toro and later Emerald Hills was Hodges Gardens when it first opened, just 9 holes. Pro shop was in one of the motel rooms. Wonderful course, but kinda of tight.

Old Front Nine (LSU) in Baton Rouge

Trying to find this one but not seeing it. Did this turn into the current LSU course?

I guess Louisiana had two courses called Southern Oaks not far from each other There is on in Abbeville that closed but is reopened.

Yes

And Fernwood Hills is Fennwood Hills in Zachary. It’s very open. I played a few holes there two weeks ago before we got rained out.

Google is telling me Meadowlake is still open but is undergoing an irrigation renovation. I think Peter Winkler owns it now and does his lessons out there.

Another one I was thinking of was the nine hole course out on youree drive in shreveport. It was a driving range and a nine hole par 3 course. Can't remember the name.

Trying to find this one but not seeing it. AI is telling me...

quote:

It seems there might be a misunderstanding. There's no known golf course in Louisiana called "Pinky's" that has closed. The search results mention other Louisiana golf courses that have closed, like Pine Shadows Golf Course in Lake Charles. It's possible the name "Pinky's" is a misspelling or a different course altogether.

Was is called something else?

Palmetto Country Club in Benton

I work for the local FD in Benton. Had to preplan the old clubhouse there that is now “office space” for Willis Knighton. I stood in the old bar area which looked out the back towards the course and just got depressed about the place failing. If it could’ve held on for a few more years it would be thriving right now. Sad that Stonebridge is really the only place there is to play golf in Bossier Parish. Especially sad for those of us who live in Benton and the north part of the parish.

It was never called Pinky’s to my knowledge. When I was at LSU it was called Magnolia Creek.

Man Palmetto would have killed it if it would have lasted until Covid. Especially considering what a turd Stonebridge is turning into and other courses in the area going downhill. Also with Benton's constant growing population.

Every time I'd pass by there I'd be like man I'd like to hop the fence and play the par three and par five that runs along Airline.

Just looking, I can't believe it's been 10 years since it closed. Doesn't seem that long ago.

We used to road trip over there before Links and Oakwing. At some point, I stopped even bringing a driver.

Got ya, ok I got Magnolia already on there.

We're up to 45 courses now. Looks Baton Rouge leading the way.

I would kill to have Palmetto back open. Great course and 2 minutes from my house. Sad because there are so many people out here that would be members if it was still open.

There was a golf course at Pecan Island at one time. I shite you not. The men’s tee markers were drake duck decoys and the women’s tees were hens. Can’t remember the name.
