I bought these sets after my ordeal. No need to beleaguered the point for the negative nellies.

I play 3 rounds with each set. The X5 have won out. Took the 790's back.

Nothing negative about the 790 irons, it's more that the X5 just feel better and there is something special about the V sole especially on short shots.

Guess that I will be on Team Srixon going forward. Glad to answer any questions.

I no longer carry a 5 iron.

What irons comprise the set?

I got 5-GW... I will never hit the 5 iron, I use a 22* hybrid and choke up or down as needed.

Of course you can order any combination mix that you want.

I just ordered this week:
5-7 ZX4 1 degree weak
8-PW ZX5

They come in on Tuesday. Can’t wait to hit them.

So when I adjust a driver to have more loft it closes the face(usually).

I don’t guess that would apply to an iron?

Should the loft gaps be about 4-5 degrees or so?

Would the PW be around 46 degrees for your bent set?

The only reason I did that is because the ZX4 lofts are a bit jacked, and I would’ve ended up with a 6.5 degree gap between my 7 and 8 iron. This way it’s only 5.5.

I only got the zx4 1 degree weak. My PW is 44 in the ZX5.

If I end up hating it they can always adjust or I can switch to a full ZX5 set for just a few hundred bucks more

I’d looked at the 790 vs the Gi at the fitting a couple weeks ago. Nothing against the 790’s, the Gi just felt better.

Did you go with standard lofts? I went a degree weak and have to agree with the pro it’s helped my distance control.

I went with the standard lofts on the X5's and they have been fine so far.

I usually play 1 degree up, but I'm trying the standard lie hoping to tame down my draw.

They're great clubs.. only nitpick issue I had with them were that they could be unpredictably hot at times.. when I tested them I found that I'd get a jumper moreso than the other clubs I tested

I'd rather hit a hybrid than the 4-5 irons. I can hit it higher and land it softer.

Ahh, I see.

The other guy mentioned 5i too so I thought I might have missed some news on how detrimental 5 irons are lol.

Just to confirm… is “going forward” code for June?

Well, since I have tried about every other set of irons, I think it's time to settle in on a set.
