My Chrome Soft vs Chrome Tour review

I am 70 with a big swing arc and I hit my 7 iron 155 for context.
Today there were only two of us playing so we could experiment with shots on the course.
Off my driver it was difficult to notice any big differences in distance, but I would give the edge to the Chrome Tour.
The huge difference was with my irons and wedges.
I was at least 5-7 yards shorter with the Chrome soft ball. I can't really explain it since the ball height seemed very similar.
My playing partner got the same results off his irons.
For us there was a huge difference off the wedges. The Tour checked a lot better.
Compression according to independent testing.
Soft - 78
Tour 87
I have tested quite a few makes and models of balls this summer. I am really starting to question the whole compression topic.
Both are good balls, but the Tour suits me better.

With wedges:
1. Is it better check in the scrambling shots(say 15 to 70 yards?
2. Or more when you are say approaching with a wedge( I don’t really swing all out with a wedge/just sort of 3/4, if I need more I’ll go up a club)?
I’d guess you use a pitching wedge from about 120 plus or minus 5.

Yes to number 1.
I hit my PW about 115 now with a regular swing. I can goose it a little futher.

For those that downvoted a personal experience with these balls, please explain your argument.
Did you need more info or what.
I trust on course performance more than any trackman read out.

I’m maybe 105 with a PW. I find IF I try to give it more, it goes up, but not further. I am a 9 index so this may just be a lack of talent and skill. I’m sure results vary for everyone.

Miserable pricks won't have an argument, only piss and vinegar...

A few of the guys who post here believe there is absolutely no difference in golf balls whatsoever and no one who isnt a touring pro could possibly tell the difference between a range ball and a pro v1 so any discussion on balls immediately sends them off the deep end.

Well they would be very wrong.
There is a big difference between the 4 Maxfli Tour models ( Soft, Tour, TourX, Tour XLS ) off the Driver, irons and putter.

I know a guy at Golf Galaxy that hit it.
But to be honest I never looked for it on the shelf.

Even I can tell a urethane cover from a ionomer cover.
Although I don’t have great swing speed, I use urethane covered gof balls for the most part. I can play an ionomer cover ball, but it really does limit options around the greens and to front pins.
I sort of hangout in the lower compression urethane golf balls like TM tour response, Q star tour by Srixon, and so forth.

Nothing wrong with that brother.
I really like the Tour Response.

I played them for a year or 2, then kind of went AVX, Prov1, but my brother was playing Tour Respose and the format was Pinehurst so I decided to do Tour Response since we would be alternate shot during that. It worked good. We just had different colored stripes. I should get some plain yellow ones.

I never even think of Callaway balls, haven't tried one since the original Chrome Soft and I hated the feel.

I found one on the course yesterday and I found this to be true. Not sure what Callaway did differently but the older CS models use to be LONG for me. I was disappointed as I was preparing to give these a go next time.
In other news, I also found a B-Stone e12 and was surprised by its performance for a "distance" ball. I got it to back up on a full wedge shot. Got me wanting to get a dz off of LostGolfBalls and put it through the full testing regimen.

I'd like to get my hands on them and see how they compare to the Callaway Chrome Tour Triple Diamonds...

A guy told me today that they are reformulating it and it should be ready for the PGA show FWIW.
I think I am going back to the Tour Response ball. They are discounted right now.

I tried the CS and didn’t like it. It was too soft and I felt like with iron shots, it just fell out of the sky quicker. I don’t know, I never hit it with a track man but it was noticeably shorter.
